I agree Mike. You captured the shape of the car very well. Only thing I could suggest would be to edge color where the tire rims meet the treads. That would cover that distracting thin white line which shows on every tire in the pictures. A small thing, to be sure, but it makes a real difference in the finished model. Good job else!

It is a beautiful design, Michael.
I have often contemplated these kinds of curves mostly for cars and trucks of the 30s-40s. The next time I run into a particularly beautiful curved hood or fender I am going to try wetting the card part and shaping it over a curved form. If that works I could add a little bit of wood glue to the water to stiffen the part and give it a bit of shine. Of course this means I would have to make a curved form to shape the part on and probably varnish it to keep the glue from sticking. I work in small scales 1/72, 1/87, 1/160 so making the forms would not be a huge deal, and they would be re-usable for similar models of cars/trucks. Of course working out the colors would be interesting since the water would probably wash out the original but I have never been afraid to paint card stock (a little isopropyl alchohol and a drop of detergent help make acrylics work better with card stock). Just a guess and a suggestion, good luck with those beautiful curves. Formerly Styrene aka David |
