2cv Charleston paper model
An older build. Through CITROPOLIS magazine I purchased a cardboard model of this 2cv Charleston that appeared very promising so I copied and assembled it my way of course. I added more details during the years like the chrome trim, the can opener, my own license plate; I changed the position of the tail light section and created a big rear bumper for it. The wheels spin so I used different axles to accomplish that. Everyone who saw this 2cv was charmed by it. So here you are, the one you'd probably never saw. Enjoy!

Thanks Vermin, thanks Elliot.
Yeah, the can opener is a theme you find sometimes on funny drawings of the iconic 2cv, I could not resist to make a paper model of it. |

The one I owned
My latest 2cv, I drove 7 years with it and sold it for 500€, a 550bucks or so. The engine was toast, it was already the 3rd I placed in this car. A 2cv in a similar condition today goes easily 2000€

This 2CV has been issued by a nortern german designer, right? Try to remember the name.
About lukke 49´s 2CV: Funny enough most people say the engine was the most rugged part of the car. Never owned one, went for the 34HP Visa instead when they could be bought factory fresh in the 1980-ies and still love and drive it. Cheers, Martin

Hello Sparrowhawk,
Well I've red tons of magazines concerning Citroën and in particular the 2cv. Thing is I forgot a lot about It so maybe you're right about this German. The only thing I remember about the Charleston is that it was the so maniest attempt to renew the 2cv that was actually running towards the end of it's production. Citroën wanted to get rid of their 2cv for more than one reason but there was still a demand of customers. I guess they bed on 2 horses by changing it cosmetically (retro-art-deco look), trying to convince another type of customer while they still had their loyal buyers. The Charleston as we came to know it was issued in '82. You are right: the flat twin is a strong and very reliable engine. Instead of reconditioning the engine I simply bought always a second hand, you could find them in almost any junkyard at an affordable price, it was the cheapest solution for me. Needless to say that they did not always performed the way they were meant to be because of their age or mileage. Al together I owned 5 2cv's and I had a lot of fun with these cars. Greetings |

fitting new clutch
I know 2cv's very well. Most of the repairs I did myself. For once the engine was still strong but the clutch needed to be changed with a new one. One does not compromise on clutches...
