Great work there Retunga! I particularly like the exhaust system. Were the exhaust pipes difficult to make?

Elliott comparing the V-max to the R1M, the R1M's Exhaust is easier in a way, mostly in that I knew what to do and look out for, the V-Max's exhaust was tricky in a way.

One thing that I am learning quickly about the R1M build is not to go ahead and glue all of the parts together as this model there is a lot extra assembly work still to follow, in this case the exhaust system is shown complete but I have kept in 3 parts purely when I do install it in the final assebly it will be easier and look better as well.

Hi all

update Time, I have now completed the first part of the frame of the bike, the reason for taking so long with this that I want to get this part 100% spot on straight, When I built the V-Max the frame was a bit out and I had to do a lot small mods to the frame for it work out as I did not build carefully. The next part of the frame is going to also take a bit time to get it 100% spot on.

But for now the photos of the Bike frame.

Enjoy

Hi all

I have now finished the rear part of the frame of the bike, I have had to do a quick rebuild patch on the main frame as I had one part the wrong way but now it is fixed.

Enjoy

That frame is looking really good - your very careful progress on it should pay off later. I have found the frames on the Yamaha models to be very hard to get right, as the long thin sections twist very easily during construction, and the assembly drawings and photographs give little information about the exact shape required.

I decided to start this model with the frame, and made the main parts first just to see how they fitted together. Then a second build could go ahead knowing where twists were needed and where not. So far this seems to have worked - I have the rear arm and engine installed reasonably satisfactorily. Now for the radiator and exhaust pipes...

All the best,
Alan
