Cor, I wish I could speak Welsh, I'd probably be quite insulted, but then again it might have been edited out. . and Yeah, to me $50 is mere pocket money mate. OK, so yer middle aged, but yer still a bit of a bolshy sun of a gun, ain't ya? Leave our mate Volker alone. T'ain't his fault.

I might live half way up a Welsh Mountain, but thanks to the wonders of Fibre Optics I've been enjoying 40Mb downloads since last Xmas. Don't believe all ya read in the UK papers mate. The Super Highway is available to all here (IF YOU'RE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT).

PM me in the new year if you're any diffy. Like a couple or three others in your neck o' the woods, it'll only take a minute to send ya the complete collection.

Still no joy from the mainland of Australia. Tassie often gets left off our maps on souvenirs. No one is bothered by it. Except Tasmanians.

Still doesn't work at work (and no message fom the proxy telling me it's banned). Still works perfectly at home. Same browser, same version, same country, different ISP.

Eye surgery and lecturing preparation have slowed me down, but I have completed the first model . . . twice!

My first attempt turned out to be the Great American Disaster, but I learned some things:

1. The rear axle is shorter to accommodate the dual rear wheels.

2. The front (V) of the chassis has to touch the front of the cab assembly.

3. The side panels are too delicate for me to build the model with them in place, so on the second try I cut them off, then laminated them to the back-up pieces and left a strip at the top to provide more strength when I glued them to the tray assembly.

4. I am still not sure where the fuel tanks go. Presumably behind the cab and under the tray, but the assembly will be open on one side. If no advice from the rest of you, I will use spare material from the first build to close one end and glue them where I think they should go.

Laughsplace - Thanks for your advice, but the extra length of the chassis extension does not reach far enough to glue to the gray tab under the rear license plate.

Tomorrow I will begin on the big multi-part second model.

Don

those "fuel tanks" as you have named them ...are they not the rear wheel arches? red circle being a light maybe? not built it yet .. so just an idea? *added pic*

Mystery solved!

I am certain that you are correct, Laughsplace. Now that I take another look at the image that Volker provided (Post #17, above), I can see the rear wheel arches. Furthermore, there are black lines on the frame that indicate where the edges of the wheel arches go.

Many thanks!

Don

What are the four gray rectangles for? Are they wheel arches?

I will have more questions about the big yellow service truck later.

Thanks, Rick. Any ideas about where to mount them on the model?

Don
