Liebherr digger by nosports and Retunga

Hi all
Just began the Liebherr digger designed by nosports (Chriess) and Retunga
The design is interesting. No cardboard is supposed to be used and according to instruction paper heavier than 80 gsm should be used. This brings to using internal reinforcements and complicated the build. I will use the 145 g/m2 paper.
All in all, the model looks impressive with working boom and swiveling body.
The instruction is an overwhelming 70 pages booklet with explanations and pictures.

So first, according to instruction, need to assemble the inner part of the swivel joint and mount it on main chassis. Then need to make and install outer part of swivel joint. Then I installed outer cover and made a locking mechanism

Afterwards I started with parts of the tracks bases
Looks good for now.

Hello everybody
A pretty big update.
Today I managed to finish the tracks bases, tracks supports and the caterpillar tracks
No serious problem found. Two things had me scratching my head:
The round part of the middle section of the tracks base - I could never build it round enough, so I made 1.5 mm cardboard formers of the needed diameter and voila, things look happy
Second were the lower support wheels covers. I just could not understand how to mount these. So I separated them from their holding strip and glued to their places on the front part of the track base

One thing that bothers me - there are no markings of where to install accessories, had to guess.

The tracks are made of ( or off, what's correct?) strips. No special troubles here.
On all, the parts are large. I never used my 30 cm ruler so much like in this model.
11.5 pages of paper on this substructure- impressive!

Thanks Theo.

There are some mistakes I made on the top of the swivel plate and on the side slops of the body, but these will not be seen.
The real fun starts now, the boom and the body.

Hello all
Thank you Abir

A small update - Backbone assembly (as the designers call it)
Here I bumped into first problem which was caused by my decision to use thicker paper. Parts 47 and 48 needed to be shortened a bit and the part 47 (internal reinforcement) had to be rearranged. I hope this won't ruin the backbone sturdiness

Hello everybody
This time I got a pretty big update
I will split this update into number of posts.
First is the counterweight - no special hustle here, just need to be very careful with gluing of the back panel with round middle section.

Then I got to hydro block, which contains hydro pump and hydraulic liquid tank with casings
Here I also switched to my "former and wrapper" stile. I simple hate the "strip with tabs and a paper circle" method. I could never make this method work. For former I used cereals box cardboard (0.6 mm wide)

Then came the exhaust pipe and a muffler. Here the same cardboard was used again. The designers proposed to use the aluminium foil for the pipe and provided template for the foil and a gray part. After a quick thinking, I glued the white side of the part to a strip of home aluminum foil and cut off the provided tabs. I prepared my own gluing tab for making tubes without step. Then, using instruction manual, I used my wife's 5.5 mm knitting needles and formed the tubes. Then the muffler holder. The muffler with attached exhaust tube was inserted into the holder w/o gluing it together. I will affix these during assembly

Then came a lot of boxy structures which are referred by designers as Castings. Nothing difficult here

And all the parts can be seen together
