I agree they go under the light bar, with the red lenses to the rear. I believe this would
be the brake lights, allowing them to be visible when towing a vehicle.

However, looking at Volker's picture, I don't think they form a "T". But not completely sure.

Many thanks for the feedback, Laughspace and Ray (and Johnny and Rick). It really helps to know that you are looking in and providing advice and encouragement.

I agree the bar with the lights goes under the light bar, but (Third Image) the other bar is too long to form a T-shape.

Still have to link up the towing mechanism, attach the mirrors, add the fender (wing) lights, straighten out the light bar, and do some touching up, but nearly ready to move on to the Day 17 model.

I actually thought the blank piece should be an L-shaped bracket piece that fits under the big orange light and the brake light piece glued to it. Would that make sense?

The low placement would be difficult to view if the vehicle was towing anything with a little height to it. Even directly under the orange bar, the visibility would be questionable. I think

This particular vehicle is designed to haul smaller, passenger vehicles. Really wouldn't work
for larger ones. The height of the towing apparatus is not very high when deployed.

Even so, the G-klasse isn't that big a vehicle, so a passenger vehicle would probably sit higher than the bottom of the rear glass, wouldn't it?

Not necessarily. The vehicle being towed would only have the rear tires about 8-12 inches off the ground.

Of course, the one picture I found of a vehicle hooked up for towing, I cannot find again.
Allowing for the adage, "no pic, no proof".

Not quite the same, but the brake lights are wired high

Hmmmm. Compelling evidence, and makes sense, now that I think about it. I hope I can break loose the glued in bar without doing too much damage. I may use the second bar to cover up the rough spots, otherwise, will se it to reinforce the one with the taillights.

I keep looking at this vehicle and picture it modded into either a follow me vehicle or with a fifth wheel to haul a trailer.

Intriguing little model

Four completed

And the next one is up. Another big one with a red chassis.

Thanks to Laughsplace, Vermin King, Rick, and Ray for all the good advice and encouragement on this Mercedes G-Klasse wrecker/tow truck.
