That's something I've often thought would be a good idea, but I don't have a suitable punch for the outside diameter of the wheel. I do use punches to cut out the smaller parts - I print out a page containing a lot of those parts specially so I can punch out a load of them and pick just the best ones. It's hard to get the punch in just the right position, but if I do enough, I end up with some that are good.

Anyone who wants the PDF of this page, go to my tips and tricks page on TPM: https://grahamsmith1403.wixsite.com/...ips-and-tricks - there are also links to spare lorry wheel pages so you can practise these.

Hi Graham, thanks for these. There are so many optional methods for creating wheels, but I have found that laminating parts to heavier card to be the one that I am most comfortable with. I have managed to collect a large variety of punches over the years, ranging from 1mm up to 30mm. However, I have found that the larger ones can be unwieldy, so anything over 30mm I use a circle cutter.

All the best and happy modelling.

Bernie

Thanks, Bernie and Graham, for all the good info.

I have a couple of sets of punches, but usually use the circle cutter for anything larger that the 5mm cutter that fits in my drill punch. Punches are clearly much faster.
