MB Actros bu Cut'n paste
Hello folks,
Another quick build to keep the mojo going. Cut'n Paste has uploaded some cracking 00 scale Trucks, trailers and auxiliary vehicles, so I'm having a go at some of these. First off is the Mercedes-Benz, 6 by 4 heavy hauler. I have printed this on 120 gsm and it works very well with this weight of paper. The printing is crisp and the small parts are easy to form. However, I was not happy with the way I put the cab together as I have left to many overlaps around the cab roof. So I am going to attempt this in glossy paper, 140 gsm, to get a neater outcome. A query? There was no mention of parts 21 in the instructions. I have a feeling that they are the front mud-guards, but could someone qualify this for me please? All the best and happy modelling. Hi Bernie -
I'm glad to see you building some of the Cut'n Paste OO scale vehicles. I have been looking at the wealth of vehicles, rolling stock, and buildings he has on offer, and look forward to seeing how you handle these models. This Mercedes-Benz looks great so far. Don |

Thanks Don and to all for stopping by. I have re-done the cab in glossy paper this time and am quite pleased with the outcome. No messing about this time, just glued up as per the tabs and folds, but I have found that the slightly heavier paper helps here. Anyhoo here are the pics.
It's not too apparent from the photos, but the glossy paper gives a more intense and sharper print. All the best and happy modelling. Bernie |

Coming on rather nicely! With regards to parts 21, these fitted well under the front wheel arches.
Stay tuned! |

Ok folks, wheel going together. I have differed from Cut n' Paste's method here in that I have used solid cores for the main structure. these are punched from 2mm board and laminated.
The rest of the printed parts will simply attach to the cores. Till next time. Bernie |

What do you mean, punched? Don |

Those wheels and tires look real. That is a good idea to use the 2 mm board for the core.

Hi Don, you know, punched!
Two different types of hollow punches used here, an old fashioned gasket punch and a home made parallel one. The front and middle tire faces were dappled with an embossing tool on a handy eraser...... ......before fixing to the rims. This has given a subtle bowed effect more like the real thing. Stay tooned! Bernie |

Hi, Bernie! I'm really glad to see one of my truck models being done so well! Keep going, and I'll be watching this build with great interest.
