1938 Delahaye

I decided to take a crack at building this beautiful, sexy, curvy automobile. The 1/100 scale model by MiB is way too small for me, so I enlarged it to a much more reasonable 1/50 scale.

There are no instructions, and the few hints that are on the parts page are in Czech, so they're not much help. Studying the parts page, I noticed that a couple of parts seem to be missing, so I made duplicates of the existing parts and flipped them. There are also a few parts I'm confused about, so any help is greatly appreciated. First of all, are those "podlepit 1mm" parts templates for a two part windshield? If not, what are they? Secondly, what are the parts just below the "podlepit" parts. One of them looks like it has to be doubled, the other one, located in a framed area that matches the contour of the interior is only a single thickness. Does anyone have a clue because I sure don't.

I'll post photos as the build progresses.

Very beautiful car.

According to Google translate:

"podlepit 1mm" = layer to 1 mm. (probably the windshield as you said).
"mezi int. a karos" = "between interior and body"
"drátek" = wires. Probably windshield wipers?

"no clue" = probably the gear stick to be folded and glued? My guess is the same as yours: the single one drawn inside the oddly shaped polygon looks like a template for the profile of the interior. Hence my guess of the small black piece to indicate where the gear stick sits on the floor.

An interesting project. Will follow it

Nice looking automobile. Should be fun forming all of those sexy curves.

First thought was that doubled part were windshield wipers, but all of the photos of the actual automobile show two chromed wipers.

Thanks for your thoughts, Ruben. After reading your comment, I think you're correct that the doubled part is the gear shift lever, with the diagram to the left showing where to place it in the interior. The "dratek" part is possibly the steering column. I'm still not sure of the podlepit part. Laminating it 1mm card would make it way too thick for a windshield (especially if the model was built at the original 1/100 scale), but based on your translation of the phrase, they are probably bulkheads of some sort. Hopefully their location will become apparent as the parts are formed.

Except for the real deal showing no sun visors the podlepit parts sure are sun visor shaped.

Excellent walkaround photos whulsey. Thank you, they're sure to come in handy.

I started with the interior, which went together easily - 3 paper parts and 1 small piece of wire. If you compare the dash with whulsey's photo, MiB did an excellent job of recreating the instrument cluster and knobs. I did have to move the steering wheel to the left the indicated mounting point about 1/16" so it would clear the interior side. There was a location indicator on the floor that I hadn't noticed earlier for the doubled shifter lever. Interestingly it's to the right of the steering wheel - aren't manual shift levers normally placed to the left of the driver on right hand drive cars? Maybe that thing is an emergency brake.
