1/50 VW Type 2 Pick Up

Yakov Panov recently designed a 1/50 scale VW Type 2 Pick Up. I colored his white model as a groovy surf wagon (or perhaps, wagen). At the development stage when he sent me the white file, there were skins only - no glue tabs, so I had to decide where they should be, and cut them out freehand. The fit of all the parts was perfect. The most difficult part to assemble was the 3 piece front bumper. You can't have a surf wagon without surfboards, so I cobbled some together from internet photos. The base is from the paperdiorama.com site, customized with a sandy beach and surf background.

Outstanding surfen wagen, Don. And a great diorama. I like the shiny hupcaps and the free-lanced surfbretter.

Very cool! Will he use your color scheme for the final model?

Thanks, fellas. I think he was waiting for photos of the finished model before adding my version to the line: there are several variations so far - a white model, 2-tone blue and white, and a Hot Wheels version.
