Thank you Greg and Wayne for the excellent reference photos of the truck, I'm sure they'll come in hand when the time comes. I really appreciate your help.
As for the model, I have not had much free time to spend on building but I did manage to tear the frame apart and start over. After looking at the parts, taking a bunch of measurements, checking out diagrams and photos, I realized that the left and right sides should have been laminated to .5 mm card stock. After adding the additional reinforcement, not only is the frame much stronger and rigid but the cross members fit as they should and the width of the frame is correct. Next I will begin working on the front suspension. |

The frame is finished and has been sprayed with a primer coat.
Parts fit remains to be poor. Next is the front and rear suspension. |

Parts fit notwithstanding, that's a fine-looking frame, Kevin.

Front suspension update...
The leaf springs and front axle are complete and have been given a coat of primer. The assembly was fairly straight forward. Only problem to report is that the diagram shows the end of the springs rolling the wrong way. Other than that no problems. |

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Here is a small update on the start of the rear suspension. This weekend I was able to put together the two rear spring assemblies. Part fit is ok but there are a few pieces that just don't work right if they were built right out of the book. Not to mention that each leaf needs to be laminated to an extra layer of card stock to get the proper thickness when complete. No where is this called out in the kit. |

Outstanding work, Kevin. Your comments on errors and omissions in the kit instructions will be really valuable for anyone who plan to build this model.
I hope to see it 19-20 May at Paper Modelers at Army Heritage Days. Don |

Thanks Don, Yes, I'll have this with me at Army Heritage Days in May. Hopefully sitting on 4 wheels by then.
Here is a quick update... Still working on the tiny bits that make up the rear suspension. Much of this has turned into an exercise in scratch building since the kit does such a poor job with these small pieces. Fortunately, I have some pretty good reference photos to follow. |
