Massey Ferguson 760 Combine

I was commissioned to build this model, so I will pause my StuG III build to attend to this. It appears to be from the mid to late 70's. It lists Cardcraft Models as the publisher from the UK. Instructions are in English and there are 8 diecut and scored sheets of parts.

Very cool. I’ve always liked farm equipment for some reason. Guess growing up in NYC didn’t help.
I look forward to this build.

This is a very interesting project I cannot wait to see it. I build farm equipment and design my own and have built several combines with interchangeable heads. I work in 1/64 scale what scale is your model. I attached a photo of two of my combines an IH 1440 and John Deere 9400. Again can't wait to see your progress.

No indication of scale anywhere on this kit. I have started it but have yet to take any pictures of it.

I will say that the card is relatively heavy and the score marks are only on one side. Mountain folds are OK, valley folds do not do well without some material removed to thin the bend point.

One thing on the mountain folds is that some of the scores are too deep and the provided tabs can break loose.

Also, my usual Aleene's quick dry PVA glue doesn't stick well to this paper. I have had to use gel CA glue for most joints.

Here are the latest pictures of progress. Since my last report, I have switched to crafters choice PVA with better results.

In an interesting twist from the usual paper model instructions, The written parts are much more informative than the barely adequate assembly diagrams.

So far, other than the unique approach described in my first post, The build has been pleasurable with no major issues.

Oh, it looks like I forgot to answer Ennder's question about availability. The answer is: I don't know. I've not seen it before this commission. This was provided by the person asking me to build it. The envelope seems to show he got it from someone in the Netherlands. The paper is slightly yellow and this particular combine seems to be of 70's vintage.

I have not yet figured out scale but I made sure to photograph it with the 1/25 scale StuG III I was working on.

Did some checking on the Massey Ferguson 760 and found this pdf with some specs:
Massey Ferguson 760 Specs pdf
The link will either open a pdf or ask to save a pdf depending on how you have your browser configured.

It lists the large front tires as 23.1 x 30 R1, 10-ply.
Some more searching shows this:
23.1-30 Firestone Traction Field and Road Tractor Tire
Overall Width: 23.1 inches
Overall Diameter: 67.4 inches

That info could be a basis to figure the scale. Measure the width or diameter of the model front tires and calculate the scale from that. It should give a ballpark figure.
