I tend to agree with Dave that most folks that have bazillions files of kits are just collectors ( or dare I say Hoarders ). So basically, nothing but psychological peace of mind was ever truly lost.

The Moral of the story for me is only have files that you will build and at most that you may build. The rest are just bits and bytes in an ether world.

But, still you need to back up your data.

Ok, I will agree that I am more of a collector than a modeler but I wish it was the other way around, I have been this way since my wife passed away in 09. I also suffer from borderline personality disorder and one of my problems is if I can't do something perfectly I just wait till I can. This affects my plastic modeling and model railroading as well. With paper modeling you would think I could just reprint and go on, but my brain just doesn't seem to work that way. Yes it was a WD MY PASSPORT, plus both of my computer's crashed this year ( bad year for my electronics). But there is a light light at the end of the tunnel, my girlfriend's 7 year old grandson and I are going to try some of Airdave's Kool Wheelz models together. But knowing my luck it will be an unannounced Kool Wheelz train headed at me. LOL. Thanks guys. Gregg

I probably go a little overboard with my data, I have a 2 cloud backups (pCloud and Ccloud) and 2 5tb externals and also burn a copy of all my models to dvd....but I also do all my photos and important documents the same way....

"I suffer from borderline personality disorder and one of my problems is

I throw it across the room,
go pick it up,
and throw it further.
Then start a new project.
LOL

I've been using one of the WD 3T Passport backups. Had been thinking about getting another. Think mine is around 2 years old so sounds like I'd better get to it as soon as I can get the cash together. A never ending digital cycle.
