Thank you Alan
A quick note to say thank you to Alan Grayer for making his 1911 Harley available.
I had never made a motor cycle before but I was looking for something different and I've always liked the vintage M/Cs. After a tentative start and a few helping e-mails from Alan, I found it not too difficult. The wheels looked complicated so I started with one. I reasoned that it would be better to make one first rather than make the bike then not be able to make the wheels. Alan's separate notes for wheel making were a great help. So Thanks Alan and I feel mine isn't too bad for a beginner. One point if you decide to make it - check the thickness of the card you use when making the engine - I think I underestimated. Oh - and Alan when do we get an Indian ???? Cheers Mike |

Looks good Mike. I've got that to do someday also. Too many models-too little time. An Indian or a Hendrickson would be a good companion piece for it.

Well, thank you Mike. It is a great pleasure to see my model constructed, especially so beautifully. Are you quite sure that you haven't made a m/c model before??? You have certainly got the hang of those pesky little tubes pretty well.
Yes, I really ought to have a go at another early machine, and the Indian is very attractive. I have had my eye on a very different prototype for several years, though, and some time it may come to fruition. Trouble is, "Procrastination" is my middle name. Anyway, well done Mike - your effort has been well rewarded. All the best, Alan |

Tubes are tricky, but I have a selection of metal and wood rods all with different diameters.
I make sure that I roll the paper round a rod where the diameter of the rod is smaller than required. Where possible I add the glue before I take it off the rod. Sounds easy..... if only it was .-) Thanks for the compliments Mike |
