1957 DeSoto Fireflite - Somewhere in Santiago de Cuba
This thing is a real milestone to me as it's my first digitally designed paper model. However, you should keep in mind that it needs some scratch building and painting too. Bumpers, chassis, mirrors, rear lights, etc. are not included so in the first post I'll show you some pictures from the building process. Consider it as a sort of "instruction"... Hope it will help you a bit.
Enjoy the model, feel free to do some recolors and modifications. I don't mind. DeSoto should be available in our downloads section soon. Scale is 1/63

Well done Kacper and authentic setting too.
I watched an interesting TV documentary about the large number of classic US cars in Cuba a while back. Getting spare parts was getting to be a real problem A common fix was to fit Russian tractor engines to keep them going.

Thanks Garry.
I don't think I've ever heard about putting engines from Russian tractors. These cars wouldn't go faster than 40km/h I guess! From what I know the more common practice was to use engines from GAZ-24 Volga. They fit much better in these yank tanks. But the fact is that getting spare parts is a real problem there. It's funny to see a 42' Plymouth with wheels from Daewoo and mirrors from Lada. I tried to capture this in my DeSoto so that's why you can see those wheels from the pickup truck. Hope to build more Cuban cars and trucks. My next design is already in progress. It will take me some time to do this one but it's worth.
