Another Vespa!

Hello All

Here are a few photographs of my just-finished Vespa 150 from Julescrafter at Paper Replika. Batidores has already shown us his version, which is superb, and given a link to his build thread on Modelismo en Papel, so I don't need to go all through that again.

I chose to construct the model essentially as supplied, without all the multimedia enhancements which Batidores has done so well. This is partly because I like to see what can be achieved with printed paper alone, and partly because I am not very good at handling these other materials. I confess that I did use a wooden rod to connect the handlebars to the front wheel instead of rolled paper, though.

The prototype for Jules's model appears to be a custom paint job on a 1966 Vespa 150 GT, red and white with a gaudy "Union Jack" on each rear wheel cover and on the front box cover, and a lot of chrome strips. I went for the rather less aggressive plain red covers also supplied by Jules, and left off some of the "chrome".

Jules was rather evasive about scale, perhaps because he did the design by eye from a single photograph and so felt that the scale was not entirely consistent. Batidores concluded that it was 1:6.5, which was pretty close to my estimate based on measurement of the parts before assembly. Accordingly I printed the sheets at 46%, to reduce the model to my normal 1:14. Measurements of the finished model indicate that it is fractionally small, perhaps 1:14.5, but certainly nothing to be worried about.

And, of course, unforgivably I forgot to say "Thank you, Jules, for a great model!"

Thanks Paul and Peter.

I'm not planning on adding the Vespa Girl, though she is rather nice. I'm not really into figure models. Besides, I'd then have to find some big hairy bikers to go on my other models.

Make your own ... Ignore the 404 error. The link does work.

Here's the Vespa ... 404 Not Found

And here's the girl ... https://paper-replika.com/index.php?...content&id=487

They are both excellent models. I can't show you my build as it was claimed by a Granddaughter.
