Modelik Zuk A11B - Fire Dept
Hi everybody!
After several years of not much happening, I've picked up the Modelik Zuk A11B model. Growing up in Poland this van-truck was always entertaining to see on the streets, and in bright red it was hard to resist building it. This first post is about part 1 - the underbody. The frame went together pretty easily though some of the parts got a little warped. The wheels, mostly the tires, involved a lot of circle cutting and egde gluing. These definitely tried my patience. The wheels are designed to spin on the axles. My axle is a paper-wrapped toothpick. The wheels slip onto the axle are held in place by a fixed disc on either side. Once glued, you hide the disc with a little white cover. Not sure if these are meant to be painted, but they're white for now. Unfortunately, my axles came out a little too long and one of the wheels is now glued stationary due to the cover. The front wheels are designed to both turn and steer! Very finicky parts that were not super obvious from the pictures and words. Luckily I at least can read Polish but it took some interpretation. The various short rods I made of toothpicks that I sharpie'd black. The linkage is a bent paper clip. I broke something and had to re-glue it at least twice. This is the complete underbody with 3 kind-of-spinning wheels, 1 definitely-can't-spin wheel and asymmetric steering! I think next time I may make the wheels stationary... Next step will be the engine, stay tuned.

Kuba, looks like an intricate bit of construction to do. You have done a good job so far.
I guess the 1 definitely-can't-spin wheel would make the vehicle travel in circles. I had a car that did that.

Woooow I can't believe I wrote GPM (twice even!!). I was looking at a stack of those just before making the thread. Maybe a friendly moderator can fix the title
Thanks Doug. Hopefully this van doesn't have any fires to go to.
