Ford F-150 Generation Five in 1/100 Scale
Hello my friends!
For me is uncommon make a car in 1/100 scale but some subjects I like to make. At this time is a Ford F-150 truck, a very common vehicle in Brazil (mainly in agrictural areas). That looks like an F series Ford pickup...if its a half-ton, then its a F-100 (3/4 ton was F-200, and 1 ton was F-300) They were produced in that style (5th gen as you call it) until 1972. Maybe the 5th gen was produced a little longer in Brazil? but I'm sure they switched to the 6th gen model long before 1992. Its hard to see the grille clearly, but it does look more like a 5th gen (67-72) than a 6th gen(1973-79). See the way it slopes under, and not more straight down. If I remember correctly, the first "F-150" was released about 1975. And I think only in California, something to do with emissions controls which were heavy at that time in Cali. Love that Texaco logo! I used to work in a Texaco!

Yes,I heard of car and truck guys getting parts from Brazil for some cars that have been made there .A guy I use to know got entire VW Scirocco just because he could stick it on a boat for cheap.
Nice,really small Ford.Project or just something fun to build? |

In fact, the car market in Brazil is very strange. During the period of the military dictatorship (1964 - 1985), the military governments established a market reserve law, which in practice prevented imports when there was a national equivalent, and thus vehicles of all the automakers that existed here (FIAT, Ford, GM, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Auto-union (AUDI)) remained in production for decades and with facelifts car models from the late 60s and early 70s. Of course, some cars like the Opala and the Chevette (from GM) were practically exclusive designs of the Brazilian market . The F series was called the F-150 in Brazil and started to be produced in 1975 (it changed from generation to 72 in the USA) and was manufactured until 1992. It was only in the mid-1990s that the market more or less became balanced in the technological gap. Brazil was for a long time a good source of parts for these old cars, mainly for some Volkswagen models like Van Type 2 called Kombi and Bettle here, although it has the different chassis closer to the wartime KDF type 2, being smaller than Mexican Bettle, this is called Fusca in Brazil. Nice, Pericles! First truck of yours I've seen since the Model A van. I've also been busy with vintage recolors, just finished a police set with a Transit Mk1, Escort Mk1 and Cortina Mk4 for the Nottinghamshire Constabulary. I've permission to do more recolors, so I'll do UK and Philippine Cortinas and Escorts (gotta have cars for those UK model railroad buildings).
Before I started recoloring I had no idea that from the late 1950s to late 1970s the Philippines assembled BMC, Fiat, Ford UK, International Harvester, Mercedes Benz, Renault, Studebaker and VW vehicles, as well as GM USA, Bedford and Opel. Many of those have been designed as papercraft by others like minimodel.cz/minimodel.sk, but some like the Thames Trader are still missing. It's hard to find online photos for vintage Philippine vehicles, but I'll keep trying. By the way, there's new stuff on minimodel.sk like the Stryker M1126 and SPOT-55 (firefighting vehicle on T55 tank chassis). |

gomidefilho - I remember Brazil being a great source of VW cars and spares. The Beatles and Kombi were historic vehicles, but still in production and were actually very sought after.
If Brazil had exported them they would have sold thousands!!!!
