AMC Pacer SCHWINGGG!!!
Recently, after my suggestion to Airdave to do a Koolwheelz version of Wayne and Garth's AMC Pacer from the 1992 movie Wayne's World was soundly rejected with scorn and derision (LOL), I did a brief web search and found a French blogster who had already developed an old school, B&W, hand drawn paper model of a 1976 Pacer. His 61 page blog features many of his own hand drawn model cars, as well as simple colored model cars that he gleaned from other sources. I'm not sure if his blog would be considered a pirate site or not, so I won't post a link, but a Google search for "AMC Pacer paper model" will bring up a jpeg image of the unbuilt kit, and you can access his blog from there if so inclined.
Using Photoshop, and stills from the movie, I came up with a pretty good replica of the movie car: same baby blue color, same flames, same license plate, mags on the back, stock wheel covers on the front, and Wayne and Garth flashing smiling peace signs from either side of the car. I modified the model with 3D tires for a (slightly) better look. It's about as cool as a Pacer can be, which doesn't say much.

Very nice rendition of that Pacer!
I think it was the only one cool example of this car. Pacers are ugly as hell! However, I've always liked the quite similar Ford Pinto.

You did a fantastic job. It only need some rust.

My buddies always kidded me about my Pacer until I went out on a below zero day
with the sun shining and got into a warm car and drove home in relative comfort. Lots of glass--green house effect. Lemonade from lemons ? Cheers, Bob |

Hi All,
And hi, rockpaperscissor. Your Pacer is like, real Cugat, (wrong movie, I know). I can hear the tunes blastin' but where is the licorice laces dispenser? Score and fold, Thumb Dog |

What a fun car! I had an AMC Gremlin and liked it for its unusual shape. I was considering a Pacer as a replacement, but it was just too "poofy" ( as in too round ) for me.
Good for you to select this design. Isaac

Thanks for all the kool komments, fellas. For an (almost) one piece hand drawn kit, it built up pretty nicely. The rear roof line is wrong, but I imagine that its rounded swoopy shape is difficult to capture without computer assistance. The designer gets an A for effort though.
Isaac, my very first brand new car was a '73 Gremlin. Not too many of them have survived. I always get excited on the rare occasions when one appears at a car show or cruise. I haven't seen a Pacer in years. New York winters are tough on cars.

I definitely have to give kudos for an attempt at the swoopiness.
Congratulations on getting your car, even if you had to do most of it yourself
