Okay, it's done.

Here it is. The wheels were made with the strip and panel type construction with the cardboard strips and discs shown earlier. Black paper strips are the treads, with tread lines drawn on with ink. Concentrically mounted colored paper discs decorate the wheels.

Bottom.

Here's the underside. Axles are Q-Tips with the cotton removed.

Its a shame you cut off the cotton tops...they could have been curb feelers (or at least curb cleaners...)!

Thanks for a very instructive thread. Love the Valiant. Your models are one of a kind. I'm a big fan.

Scans of plans.

Here are the first scans of the Valiant plans.

I got caught on an Edsel stationwagon project once, and I think that your method might overcome part of the issues. Thanks for the idea

Scans of the strip parts.

VK, glad I can help. I'd like to do an Edsel hardtop or sedan.

Everybody: Here are the scans for the strip parts. I just remembered I need to map out the bumpers and the front splash pan. Those will be next.

Final scans.

In the previously posted scan of the detail strip for the center section of the body, I forgot to draw the horizontal lines for the grille. Here is the corrected scan, along with the patterns for the "blade" style bumpers and front splash pan. The edges of the front bumper extend 1/16 inch beyond each side of the splash pan.
