Hi Everybody, it's 10:50 AM, Eastern Time. I have this thread running on both Papermodelers and Zealot. So far, the color vote across both forums is:

Red: one vote
Turquoise: three votes
Blue: one vote
Burgundy: one vote
White: one vote
(I did not vote).

Looks like turquoise takes it. Time to photocopy the plan drawings onto the colored paper.

Robin Egg Blue

I think I remember the baby blue color on other people's Valiants, but I don't remember the turquoise. Are there not records of colors available for each model year?

I had a 66 that was robin egg blue. It was indestructible! We had many a party in that relic.

Thanks for the memory prod....

Surface sheeted pontoons.

Here are the pontoons with the surface sheeting and lights. I test-fitted the tail lights at an angle (canted), like on the real car, but they looked awkward, given the squared off shape of the end of the pontoon. With the way I build a car, I often am redesigning the car to fit my design and construction methods, according to what looks best on the model.

I'm enjoying your build thread very much Mark, but I'm having a bit of an issue with the photos - when expanded, the thumbnail size varies greatly. The photos in post #17 are outstanding. When I hover over them they get bigger. Click on the hand icon, and the get bigger still. Click on the magnifying glass icon and they get huge. You can really see the detail. The photo in post 33 (among others), stays tiny no matter what I do, and I'd really like to get a closer look at your work. Is anyone else having this problem?

rockpaperscissor, I don't know what's causing that difference. I transfer the photos from my digital camera to my computer (Olympus Workspace software), and I edit all of them by reducing their sizes by the same degree. I have noticed the same thing you have.

When I take photos, I crop the images, but allow the forum to do the resizing. I don't reduce them myself. Have there been any Setting changes on your camera?

I think your resizing may be causing the issue. As VK says, just let the forum do the resizing. Try it once and see what happens.

Guys, next batch of photos, I'll follow your suggestion.

VK, no, I haven't changed the settings. It's been on super-close-up for all the pictures.

I have to redraw the side features on my surface sheets, because I failed to notice that the windshield and backlight (rear window) are of the wrap-around type. This changes side window features and door line placement. So I'm making corrections on my tracing sheet, then I'll photocopy new surface sheets onto colored paper.

If you could benefit from any vehicle photos or observations, just ask.

The '62 Lancer I have is the same A Body, so I can help you out.

This body was made from 60-62. The Lancer was dumped in '63, and though the Valiant continued, it had a very different body in '63 (and a bad carb set up!).
