It looks great so far.
I can help with the first issue. Below is a photo showing the interior of the cabin. Indeed, the steering wheel is huge. You can check the places where the foot pedals and the steering column are mounted. This is a photo of exactly the same vehicle numbered 451 [S] 48.

With regards to the tyres, might I suggest some combination of the following:
- Adding treads (yes, this is hours and hours of fiddly cutting...)
- Sticking on the tyre walls text of the tyre manufacturer and the inflation/size information usually found moulded on them. You could just find a picture of a real tyre, adjust the size and brightness to match the model and just print out six of them
- Weathering with a bit of chalk or ink to simulate dirt and brake dust

Thanks for the suggestions.
I've done all of those in the past. I'm not inclined to do so for these tires. While I really like this project, I got tons of others that pique my interest that I'd like to get on to sooner rather than later....

Cab.

Exterior details have been installed. Most of it was straight forward. I didn't enjoy the wipers much.

The blue bubble lights came from an AMT Ford Galaxie police car (the latest 007 Diamonds are Forever edition).

I then dropped the assembly and had to reattach the bumper assembly and lost the left bubble light to some dark corner of my basement workplace. So I ended up buying a second police car kit for replacement light.
