Thank you everyone for the encouragement. I'm a fraction further on, but the new piece just looks like the first, so no point in more photos yet.

Stev0 - to be fair to the fellows at Yamaha, there is a reasonable argument that a prototype/exemplar should not have the edges coloured. It certainly makes interpreting some of the assembly photographs rather easier. I can also understand their not wanting to make a second fair version, just for the heading photograph - that's an awful lot of work.

All the cylinder heads done.

Yamaha VMAX 2009-pic05.jpg

They didn't get markedly better as I went on, so I'll have to accept that that is the best I can do, and go forward.

Two pages down, only 45 to go.

The two cylinder head assemblies are now completed, without any great difficulties beyond the fact that there are lots of fiddly little parts. The photo shows up lots of glitches which aren't really apparent in the flesh. Once the whole thing is assembled most of this lot will be hard to see, but will lend an air of complexity to the whole (I hope).

Four pages and 100 parts now out of the way.

It has been a long time since I last posted. There seems to have been rather a lot of things going on here and I have put in odd bits of work without achieving a great deal. I hope that things will move a little faster over the next few weeks.

Anyway, to show I haven't forgotten you, here is how the rest of the engine is shaping up.

Thats looking mighty fine thus far... one thing Alan - you aren't in any race mate, it takes as long as it takes. I gave this model to my Brother-in-law, when he saw the parts and the manuals for it's build, he SWALLOWED and said WOW... I just hope he goes for it, when he comes over i will show him your WIP.

Thank you Peter. Don't worry, I have no desire to make any of this competitive, though I do tend to set myself challenges and maybe get a little frustrated if I miss them. I am really enjoying watching the reports of other peoples' VMAX builds - Viraj on here and Michael Knobloch on Kartonmodell-Forum. Michael is building a gigantic 140% version, which is stunning.
