They were not the first BBC presenters to try and sail a car across the Channel either Duncan Dares tried it in a VW Beetle.

Sarah Greene,Janet Ellis,Caron Keating,Katy Hill and Konnie Huq,even our Val in her day nothing wrong with watching Blue Peter mate!.I think they had some interesting items on there as well.Of course none could compete with Susan Stranks and Jenny Hanley on Magpie!.

Not at all sad my friend, if the programmes were as good today as they were then, i'd still be watching. BP lost me when the presenters got WITH IT, you know... making themselves appear to have credibility, but you can tell there'e something else they'd be sooner doing instead.

Now this was the BIGGEST "Blue Peter Make" in their history ! They were inundated with REPEAT requests for the build to be shown again and again, in the end they ended up having a proper instruction sheet for us all to send in for... Things sadly have gone downhill since then, a lot children just can't be bothered these days - tooo many rubbish TV channels and computer games stand in the way of developing basic skills.
