Hellmann's Mayonnaise

Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was manufactured in England .

In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico , which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York .

This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico .

But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York .

The ship hit an iceberg and sank.

The people of Mexico , who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss.

Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning.

The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known, ofcourse, as -

Sinko DeMayo.

WHAT??? You expected something educational from me?
You need a shot of Tequila

You missed 1 April by 33 days, Rick.

But your story reminds of another maritime catastrophe in which two ships collided near a small Pacific island. One was carrying black paint and the other was carrying red paint. The collision broke open the paint containers, flooding the area around the ships into which the crew jumped as they abandoned ship.

Consequently, they were marooned.

Talking I want Mayo on my Sandwich!!

Too bad the ship sank in the Atlantic, instead of the South Pacific. The jars could have washed up on the Sandwich Islands!

A boat pulled in to dock, and a stunning blonde woman stepped off with a parrot on her shoulder.

“Where did you get that?” asked one of the sailors sitting on the dock?

“Met her online,” replied the parrot.
