To the British consulate.
Dear Sir
Please find listed below the information you require. In Cuba and related states, Pork pies may be had for £2-75, ham pies may be had for £2 10, and chicken and mushroom pies for £1-75. In Hispaniola, pork Pies are a little more at £3-00, though two may be had for £5-00 when bought together. Ham pies are still £2-10 and chicken and mushroom are the same price. In Jamaica, however, Pork pies are cheaper at £2-00 as are both Ham and Chicken and mushroom. In Puerto Rico and Trinidad, The price is the same whatever the filling at a standard rate of £2-15. In North Andros , however , prices are higher at £2-90 for pork pies, £2-70 for Ham pies and a staggering £3-50 for a Chicken and ham pie. All the smaller islands in the group base their rates on the rates set by their respective governments. To the best of my knowledge Sir, these are currently the pie rates of the Caribbean. Yours sincerely The commissioner, the beach, Jamaica.

Thank you all.
The problem is that I know another "Pie" joke that is even funnier, but under NO circumstances would I dream of posting it. AAAARRGGGH The frustration ! Without boasting, I know I'm pretty good at telling jokes, but I would give anything to be as good at making models. I've been trying for years now and I have only ever made One keeper, a Fiddler's Green Flying Flea much enlarged to see if it would fly. It did ! and very well too. I wish I had had the sense to photograph it BEFORE throwing it skywards on it's third and final flight. I both respect and envy you all. Liz

Is the joke more obvious in Britglish than in standard mid western 'murican?
Judging from recent TV shows, the folks on the other side of the Atlantic now speak a foreign language. I have a distant cousin in Australia, he definitely speaks an incomprehensible foreign language. (There is a food stand in downtown Dayton, that sells tasty New Zealand meat pies; the usual pie rate is 6 dollars, sides extra. It is good to see reasonable pie rates so far inland.) |
