1/48 1920's Junkers A20 Mail plane NEW!!

We are delighted to present out latest release - the all-metal two-seat Junker’s A20 mail plane.

This beautiful monoplane design beautifully captures all the elan and styling of the 1920’s period. The model shown, expertly constructed by Rosie, is a great example of how attention to design, accuracy and detail provides results that will get the notice and respect of even the most die-hard paint n’ plastic modeler! This is an extremely accurate paper model that will totally justify the attention of adding detail.

From correspondence we have received over the years, we also know that many paper modelers have looked at this subject with desire. So to those of you who have waited, I can confirm that the Junkers A20 is all ready for flight. (Expect to see it on ecard models in the next few weeks).

I would hate to estimate how much work has gone into creating this design. It first appeared as a 1/144, then a 1/72 design so there has definitely been years of refinement and time that always seems to accompany the business of getting the model ‘right’. The Junkers A20 goes back half-a-dozen years; the absence of reliable plans creating the usual challenges with the subject matter. The paper model itself features a double skin construction, simple flat card spar, 5 segment wing, with wire being used only for the undercarriage. All other components are created from bamboo and plastic rod. A particular feature of the model is the attention paid to curves in the creation of the wing leading edge and underside of the fuselage.

The two-seater was operated as a mail plane in Germany with production numbering 43. Military variants were operated by Turkey, Spain, Hungary, Iran, Austria, Finland, Sweden and China. We will be producing some of these variants in the future.

One question:
Will the A20 become available on ecardmodels, too?
(I strongly hope so, because I'll have to scale her down to 1/250 in any case - same applies to the Rohrbach!)
