Ford 2AT airliner 1924 1/48

The Ford 2AT, originally the Stout 2AT pullman, was the United State's most advanced airliner of it's time. First flown in 1924 this Junkers inspired monoplane was powered by the ubiquitous Liberty engine and the nickname 'The Tin Goose' was applied to the aircraft, a sobriquet inherited by the Ford Trimotors developed from the 2AT.

On May 18, 1926 at Argo, Illinois, a Ford Air Transport 2-AT Maiden Dearborn I was involved in the first fatal accident for a commercial US aircraft. The Contract Air Mail pilot crashed and was killed in poor weather conditions.
In 1928, U.S. Commerce department declared the wings to be structurally unsafe and all remaining 2-AT's were scrapped and consigned to history.

Like most of our designs this was originally scaled in 1/72 before we abandoned all work in that scale for 1/48. The Ford 2AT has languished for some years but in the last month we have been able to revisit the design and helped by better references, we anticipate this will be our next release, hopefully before the end of 2013.

I attach a couple of progress images for your interest.

Neat!

I have built and attempted fly a "Peanut" scale version of Ford 2AT in balsa- without much success! A card version will be most welcome.

Great job on the windows. Your approach to the optical illusion of transparency is brilliant.

Is the plan to still get the Ford to market? If the price is reasonable, you've got a sale here!
