Hey, Corey!

Just curious if you finished this model; I see a CSS SELMA offered on eCardmodel but that looks to be a different ship, a concept ship if you will, than this CSS SELMA of Mobile Bay fame.

Cheers!
Jim

The Selma vessel offered at ecards is not the same ship. It was a large Nashville class gunboat that was wrecked on launch and sold for scrap. I think it was too large with too thin a cross section. I suspect the weight broke the ship when it hit the water wrong on launching.

The CSS Selma is underway, just been a while. I have been working on it and will some day (soon I hope) wind up being available.

Corey

Corey, I ran across this illustration of a pivot gun that might give some insight as to how the gun may have been positioned using a rack-and-pinion gear.

Corey, I just ran across this while browsing Project Gutenburg, and thought it might be of interest to you. http://www.gutenberg.org/files/24612...-h/24612-h.htm

Thanks, Corey...I figured that was the story.

I look forward to your further update when you have had the chance to work on this model in the future...and to offer it on eCardmodels, I hope.

Take it easy, mate! Been thinking of you.

Cheers!
Jim

Thanks for posting that link, Darwin, and for the info on the pivot gun...it's great how our forum members have such diverse and wide spread information on various topics, and freely and generously share it all with everyone...I do appreciate it very much!

Cheers!
Jim

OK, starting over with a better model design. Sometimes I get too carried away with the ship and forget it needs to be a build-able model. Darn, I hate starting over!

Really looking forward to your rework on this one, Corey!

I know it's a pain to redo models but I know you would rather do it to your satisfaction, no?

Cheers!
Jim

Your right Jim. These hulled ships as apposed to the normal ironclad have to be approached a different way, and I forget that sometimes.
