Flank Howitzer in 1/16 scale

OK, here is a little something I started in the way back and I am finally clearing out. It is a fort mounted flank howitzer, as used in Ft. Pulaski, Ga and other large brick forts in the 1830s-50s. The scale is 1/16 scale so it is going to burn up about 12 pages of card stock and have a lot of annoying bolt heads and stuff. Here are some preview pics.

Defintely captures the look and feel of the guns and casement at Ft. Pulaski. Look forward to seeing the finished product.

The flank howitzer was neet because it could be worked quickly with few people. Using quick fired blasts of canister to protect the gangway of the fort was a common theory.

I would love to see your drawings of your mortar.

sketch up and gimp both have one big advantage for me over other tools, they are free! The second great advantage is that they both can be used to good effect with little computer training, kind of a learn as you go thing. I like that!

Am looking forward to test building this one - CT have you thought about doing a range of ACW period heavy armament to go with the two or three you've already done?
