Looks really good. I'm not familiar with the vessel but it has that solid built-for-business utilitarian look of the early monitors....

Looks excellent ct, very clean, nicely detailed. Parts breakdown looks good. The added historical information is a very nice touch. Overall, looks like a great kit, especially for a first project! If you *ahem* need a beta builder, I'd be honored to give it a go. :D

As soon as I get the thing done I will be glad to send it to you Avery!

I am still having alittle trouble adjusting the size though.

For modeller's sake I'd try a different way of assembling casemates - like a modules for a plane fuselage - in one semicircle with the top attached to one of the segments - it's much easier to clean assemble than what You propose

my two cents

Model looks very interesting. Have the ship had railings?

Thanks for your suggestion lehcyfer. I may see if I can reconfigure the positioning of the sides when unfolded.

As to the railings, yes, ideally the ship would of had removable iron posts with threaded ends and an eye on the top for railing cables, like those used on th Yankee ironclads. The cables and posts could be quickly removed and stored below when the hip went into action. However, I have never seen a photo of a Confederate ship with railing in place. I have seen drawings of the CSS Virginia/Marrimack with th top casement railings in place though. It could be that the shortage of Confederate iron during the war made railing post too expensive to use. Most of the pictures of Union Monitors do show th use of removable railings and divots.

I got it done I think. I may still add gun port stoppers and ships boats, we will have to see. Her is a shot at my attempt at cover art.

Keep it up! I was homeschooled from 1st grade through 12th along with my sisters. It can be a long haul at times, and tempting to go other routes, but it is worth it in the long run.
