Coastal Civil War Forts in 1/250 scale

I know, I have too many commitments already, but I keep having an idea of making forts running through my mind. I already have some basic artillery models I have used on the 1/250 sale ironclads, but if I could find plans it would be cool to have a 1/250 scale sea side fort to compliment the ironclads. i have searched some, but I have not found anything regarding fort plans. Just a thought...just getting back ground info and building ideas now. I have several other design projects I am committed to at this time, but if anyone runs across something could you let me know? Thanks,
CT

See Vauban Fort at: Paper Terrain - Fortress Gallery
This reminds me of Fort McHenry in Baltimore.
See: Fort McHenry - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and links at bottom of this site.

Fort Sumter
See: Fort Sumter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and links at bottom of this site.

You should be able to find plans and photos of any civil war fortress by doing a Google search for the name of the fortress.

Is there any fortress that you have in mind ?

CT, I don't know how deeply you have considered the size of a 1/250 scale fort. I've been to Fort Sumter; it's huge! The model in that scale would be massive...not that I am complaining.

But, where would one put such a thing?

That would be roughly 12' by 18". Which is actually a great scale for a classroom project

To agree with B-Manic: The Historic American Buildings Survey in the Library of Congress has many fine drawings of forts from the American Civil War. I think that you would be good to look there.
