Brag' in time

I attended the Pasadena Modelers Society's ValleyCon model show today and showed a couple of my models. One of them was my model of Darf's LeFh 18/40 in 1/16th.
You can see the model here: LeFh 18/40

I was hoping that I could maybe win a bronze award and if I was lucky perhaps a silver. Well they surprised me and I was awarded a gold in the 1/35 and larger armor category. The show consisted of over a 400 models and the competition was strong with lots of great models. Unlike an IPMS show there are only general categories such as Armor, Aircraft, Cars and Ships with in each category there is a breakdown by scale. So everybody is in the same boat you cannot pick a weak category just to better your odds of getting an award.

One judge said that he had wanted to meet me because he said it was the best paper model he had ever seen and that he had first thought that it was plastic until he had read my description of the model.

Now I have to go to the doctor to get my dislocated shoulder fixed from patting myself on the back.

Congratulations!

I said this before and it now bears repeating:

Beautifully executed model Jim. You have me wondering whether the plastic media people are now considering a change?

Congrats again! +Gil

Congratulations, didn't know they were still holding the ValleyCon. Used to go to that show years ago.

Off hand I would say no.
Plastic requires assembly and painting.
Paper requires craftsmanship.
Well done Jim.

Jim,
You better get another appointmnet for the doctor's visit because there will be much more back patting involved and excited paper modelers might not be that gentle

Excellent job and the gold well deserved!
