Plumdragons Little Ship - it's Competition Time

Ladies and Gentlemen, Friends and fellow Papermodelers My Little Ship is now available in the downloads section (under Sci-Fi) and for the next five weeks, I will be running a competition to commemorate my first download on this Forum, which is as follows:

Colour the model! Either colour the files using your favourite paint program, or use the built up B&W version and cover it with paint/marker pen/ladies' make-up/gold foil/whatever you like. Please, no digitally altered pics of a built up model (I can tell, you know, unless you're very very good!)

And that's it! For the one I like best at the end of five weeks, I will use the pic of your model and add it to a suitably spacelike backdrop to make a unique picture of your work, which I can then email or PM you, as well as posting it on here.

Oh, one 'rule'! To keep things tidy, please post pictures of your finished Ship in this thread (there are two others relating to this model on here)

Any age modeler can enter, I am not at all concerned with build quality because we all have varying abilities, this is about letting your imagination out for a run, and having fun
Plumdragon
I'd like to add my thanks to elliott & rickstef for their help guiding me along!

Interesting little model.

Might have to give this one a go.

No real idea, of what to do to it.

Think i'll build it and see what happens

Thanks, Tim. Sounds like a plan to me, especially as I had no real idea of how to build it in the first place :-D

Hahaha, I didn't actually count the weeks, Mr King :-) The competition will close on the 20th of November, unless someone desperately needs more time, but that'll be the Official Closing Date, yes.
And Mr Pilsworthy, funny you should mention that.... it's a long time since I watched Quatermass and the Pit, and I first saw it when very young (scared the bejeezers out of me!) I am now reminded of a familiar looking spacecraft.... :-D
Good luck with the rivets!

Are modifications allowed, or is this limited to a re-paint?

I am in the middle of making a ship, and this looked like just the thing to break up the routine a bit. I recoloured the shells red and the antennas yellow and printed on thin silver card. The "eyes" were recoloured black, but printed streaky, which turned out have a nice effect.
Every part fitted perfectly, and it took about three hours all up. The only addition were small circles of card on the joints of the arms. A very enjoyable build. Thanks Plumdragon.
This morning my ten year old daughter picked it up and said it looked like a dragons head. My wife said cockroach. I was thinking shinny beetle.

PS, I was taking the pictures on the kitchen floor. My wife came along and suggested I put it in the bubbles in the sink that just happened to be there. i think it looks pretty appropriate.

I like the rivets and the texture.
Now if you were to physically layer each of those panels, that would look SPECTACULAR!!!
You can see here (in post 18): Little Ship Beta Build.
Where I layered the panels.
