hehe 9 days to go on that auction...I'm sure the price will climb!

only issue I have at the moment is the mail strike here in Canada.
pain in the ass...force 'em back to work I say!

oh sorry...this isn't a "comment on Canada Post" forum?

Nice phone Dave. But with all of those features, I just have to ask, does it allow you to make phone calls too?

I really enjoyed the build video to. You make it all look so simple.

wow...I actually forgot all about this thread!
so before i say anything, I'll follow up on a couple of the topics here...

I started this thread over three years ago?
when I got a new "smartphone"
(which appeared to shoot acceptable video).

Well, that phone lasted six weeks before it broke down...turned into a perpetual
problem piece of hardware and finally the touch screen gave up completely at about 18 months.
And that, once again, left me without a working phone even though I am still paying a bill.
Bell telephone refused to help me numerous times through all this
even though I have been a solid (mobilie) customer with them for 23 years.
I am no longer with them, having run out my contract (eventually!).
...
Last year I bought (on eBay) a factory refurbished Samsung HD Sports Cam.
For only $49.
Tiny little thing, about the size and shape of a smartphone, that shoots 720/1080p HD video and high quality stills (5mb plus).
It became my regular use camera...replaced my phone for that.
And I used it to shoot the videos at last year's IPMC event.
Its shock proof and waterproof.
It loads up ready to shoot in under 2 seconds!
I recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to spend a lot on something like a GoPro.
...
As I said, I am no longer with bell....just switched to Rogers (here in southern Ontario)
...got a new phone plan, with unlimited text and local calling (for the same money as what I had with Bell!)
...and scored a Samsung Galaxy phone.
Love the phone...hopefully it will hold out longer than the last "smartphone".
It has nice Camera and Video capabilities, but I will continue to use my HD Sports Cam for that.

So...all is good...at the moment.
....
So now...that brings me to my recent video efforts:
Dave's Card Creations Video Blog

Okay, so I am no Ridley Scott (hes a real Director)
...and I don't narrate like Morgan Freeman (he has a nice voice).

And...I'm no Actor...like PeeWee Herman

But, I decided to give a try at doing a VideoBlog...
and maybe I can do a regular one when there are new topics to report on.
And with practice, maybe I can improve the quality of the productions.
Or wear a paperbag.

For now, please check out the first edition!

One of the things I would like to do with these videos is show some of the tips and techniques
that you are interested in. I'm no expert on all things paper, but I can definitely show some
build tips with regards to my own models or maybe help with one of your builds.
If you've got an idea for video content, or have something you would like to see,
just drop me a line (email), or post it on the forum.

Well, I guess the "videoblog" is not of much interest to anyone...
only 26 views in over three weeks (lol)

and no feedback/input regarding content for future videos

so, probably not much reason to do another.

It was definitely a lot more work than a simple video.
With the basic programs I am using and my limited video editing skills,
I ended up spending way too much time on it anyway.)

Unfortunate on all accounts.
Don't know how I missed this. Maybe more promotion? Though I don't know how that would happen.

The IPMS video alone is stupendous, as well as the other ones. The updates on the Centurion are mighty fine.

Beautiful builds and it looks like a lot of exhibitors!

However, It does look like a huge time investment (even if it was getting more play/comments). Shooting, the loading to the computer, editing, special transitions, etc., etc. must be a tremendous load.

Hope you at least keep the ones you have up there.

Maybe this threadt will light a fire...

Joe

LOL yeah...like I don't do enough self promotion, is that what you are saying?

thanks, I needed that laff.

videos that are already posted will not go anywhere.

I just thought about responding to a number of requests for more video stuff.
so, I tried to step it up with the "videoblog" approach.

...and then nobody showed up to watch!
rofl
it figures.

Funny, Dave. But the one thing I learned when I had my own studio was you couldn't get your name or logo out in front of people too much.
