Unfortunately the Gray PT Boat idea will be a completely separate kit (if it ever gets done! lol)

hi dave quick ? about the pt 73 how are you going to release it is it going to be the same price as your green pt or is it going to be a freebie because of copyrights issues with its connection to mchale's navy which still belongs to universal

PT-73 parts will be an extra addition ...a fantasy conversion.

I am not using a direct connection to the McHale's Navy TV show,
in fact I will be making a note of the fact that it is not even the correct type of PT Boat.
You could also consider the parts as a fantasy conversion to the actual Navy PT-73 (which is also not an 80' Elco).

The only reason these parts will be going into the kit, is because you originally requested it Mikey!
If you use them to build a PT-73 and consider it a likeness of the TV Boat, thats totally okay with me!

okay, heres the latest update on more PT Boat stuff!....

but first, I just want to thank Wag for putting the idea of "nose art" in my head
and helping me with some PT Boat information and photos.

This has all led to a few ideas regarding another model and variant PT Boats.

As I said before, I always had the idea to put out a gray PT Boat
and this is of course how the factory Boats were delivered.

Many Boats were painted green for service during WW2.
Many later PT Boats were painted with camouflage and other painted effects.
Many Boats stayed Gray!
There seems to be regular discussions about certain boats...were they green? were they gray?
PT-109 is one of the boats discussed.

Anyway...with regards to my model...

I am putting out a Gray, factory paint finish version of the PT-103 (103 Class Elco 80').

So, if you don't like the green, you can buy the gray one!

I am also putting together some conversion parts.
These will be available for free.
One for each model...green PT-103 and gray PT-103
Each "conversion kit" will contain just the parts needed to build a variant PT Boat.

Green PT-103 Conversion Kit will contain:
1. parts for PT-109 (for those who believe it was repainted green)
also including the Deck mounted M3 Gun and Depth Charges.
2. parts for PT-157 "aces 'n' eights" (includes Chart House artwork)
More PT Boats from AirDave...-pt-157-artwork.jpg

Gray PT-103 Conversion Kit:
1. PT-73 parts...a fantasy conversion since the original PT-73 was not an Elco 80'
2. PT-109 (for those who believe it was NOT green!)

I'm still looking into some other PT Boats that I may include in either kit.
but as I said, these will be free updates.
You will still need to buy one (or both) of the PT-Boat 103 kits to build any of the models.

Sound good?

Sounds great Dave. Just as a point of interest if anyone's not familiar with the story, the 157 picked up the survivors of the 109 as well as having several exploits of it's own. I just picked up a copy of Devil Boats by William Breuer at the discount bookstore which is a great read about these boats.

Note to McHale....
Mikey, if you are planning on getting a PT Boat kit, wait for the Gray one to show up!
Should be available very soon (I sent off the model to ecardmodels this morning!)

And then, some time probably next week, I will release the Conversion Kits for both PT-103 models.

The gray conversion kit will have parts for the PT-73 in it!
And the conversion kits will be free.
