Dave, you could have made it a fun one like with Mauretania way back. ;-) Stripes suite sailors so tailor those crewmen too.

And BTW here's a livery suggestion for a B-24 (you have a model of it don't you?). This one is a daydream by Popular Mechanics from 1945.

Unfinished
Hello,
Are you planning to release the additional parts need to completed your model tubes? The cartridge firing and breech assemblies. From what can find they are an essential part of the tubes. Just curious. Thanks. Sincerely, DPileggi |

Not being an expert on PT Boats and the components, you would have to fill me in a little more on what parts you are talking about.
I've done my best from the reference material I had available to recreate the general look of a PT Boat and its components. The rear door of the Torpedo Tubes, as an example, is a graphic simulation of the concave hatch and all its surface parts and details. Theres many actual components that I have omitted or blended into one part. My designs also cater to the less experienced builders out there. There are obviously a lot of more specific 3 dimensional details that could be added to the kit. I haven't tried to model and included everything. And some areas are modified to be a little more builder friendly, so you have to tolerate a little artistic design license. I leave it up to the experts to detail the kit further. Can you show me some pics of the components you would like to see?

Has this PT enough lines?

In my case the lines will distract from defaults in my build ... LOL

Thats my mock-up based on the design and parts that I created.
Since I didn't have a full layout of any one Boat, I had to generalize the design. And since no two Boats are painted the same... I picked one photo of a wartime Zebra stripe PT Boat and started from there. Paying attention to how most were painted, I filled in all the unknown areas with a best guess pattern and made a few minor adjustments. For example, the deck edge strips dont carry the striped design from Hull to Deck. I left them white...the builder can paint in connecting stripes if he wishes or leave the very narrow strip white. But because the deck pattern is different than the Hull pattern, the design could not have been transferred firectly, so at some spot, there must have been a stop and start point to the spearate designs. I have just used the white edge of the Deck as that point. Reason is, the edge strips are designed with excess, and the builder can apply them from any starting point and then just trim off the unneccessary ends. Theres also the issue of any stretching during installation. If I added a pattern that needed to be lined up perfectly, it would make the whole thing extremely difficult. I also found out that the Navy tolerated variation in the painted designs. Recognizing the fact that the Paint Schemes were very complicated, there was a basic pattern but no rules as to how much of the superstructure had to be painted. It was acknowledged that recessed or heavily shadowed areas could be left unpainted. Some Boats had extensive striping coverage over all components while others had visible bases, brackets, supports, etc that were not camouflaged. For this reason, I have left some areas deck gray, like the inside of the Helm structures. Can you imagine what it would be like for a crew member to function in this environment? I was surpised to see that the deck was striped! I would think it would be very confusing and in a panic situation you might end up tripping over things! Anyway, the model is done...and sent off to ecardmodels. Should be available soon. Watch for a New Release Announcement.
