Beautiful chassis. And I like the view of your work space.

haha thanks Don!
thats actually the Coffee table in front of the TV!
I sit at the end of this big old wooden Coffee Table to work.
The couch to my left supports two trays of tools
and the Fish tank to my right keeps me company!
haha
And the TV is always on while I work!
[its an exciting life]

To be honest, I spend most of my time in the real workspace
which is my Computer desk.
Not only working on Card Models, but doing artwork
and all my computer related work.

If I'm not out painting, this is where I spend my time:

A nd I'm sure it is always just this neat and tidy, no matter how engrossed you get in the work . . .

To be honest Don...I`ve learned my lesson
and I have gotten into the habit of staying fairly organized
in my confined workspace out of necessity.
Just not enough room to make a big mess!

Actually, what you see in that photo was actually how my
cutting mat looked when I stopped to take the photo.
I had just finished cutting out the last parts for the front Wheels,
thats why they are organized around my cutting mat.

And so I reached forward, grabbed the chassis
and put it into the empty spot on my cutting mat
to take the photo.

...
I just ran out into the Living Room and snapped these pics.
Nothings changed since last night.
Except the Fish moved around a little.

LOL Dave! I think we should start a thread ''My workspace'' - should be educating at least. If that starts I'll post mine - a mind blowing mancave...

haha I believe we already have a couple of those.
they seem to die very quickly.
I guess not all are willing to share their messes...uh I mean workspaces.

hi people,
regards
the discussion earlier about 'alternate easy' parts ..ie: wheels......... you are building a superb model there and it's the detail that will make it really 'must build'.
flat printed wheels would be totaly wrong with this level of detail...
I am not particularly into tank type vehicles but this looks like it may be a 'must buy'
following with lots of interest...
regards

thanks Don...yes, I agree
The full 3D spoked wheel is the ideal way to go!

But its pretty easy to add some alternate parts, like a flat wheel insert
and if it opens up the model to less experienced builders
then it means more potential customers.

And I will never deny the interest in making some sales.

I'm not going to make alternate parts for everything, but the wheels are
an easy option...as well as the front axle*.

*Front Axle alternate

I pulled my hair out (whats left of it) while designing that front axle.

The first design went together real well, but had the wrong axle height offset,
so I had to redesign it.
Followup designs had difficulties with the end assemblies.
Tight corner and curves, small parts and gluing tabs, tricky folds, etc

In the end I got it all sorted out, but now I find the Kingpin hubs don't fit the Axle.

Not a big deal...actually an easy fix.
But it made me realize that the separate knuckles are pointless.
The chassis does not have actual steering.
(although the builder could put a hole directly through the Axle and Hub and insert a pin giving steerable wheels.
Except the steering linkage would then be a problem, because it doesn't swivel.
You would have to leave off the tie rods and steering linkage to allow the Wheels to swivel. )

So....
I have redesigned the Front Axle one more time.
I have incorporated the KingPins and Knuckles into the Axle.
It still looks (graphically) like a Knuckle and kingPin setup
but its a whole lot easier to assemble!!!

I will still include the separate component parts for anyone who wants to
challenge themselves a little more, but the basic assembly will cater more
to tjhose with less than "advanced" experience.

Which ultimately is my goal...and thats why I don't have a problem adding
something like a simplified Wheel insert.

Venting....
wow...I got a little more done on the Wheels last night
and was going to post an update today.
But I have come ridiculously close to dropping the updates on this project
and dropping my posts here completely.
When the model is done, I will put it in the shop at ecardmodels, and thats it.
if you come to ecardmodels and buy it, you buy it...if you don't, you don't.

But then I realized that NOT everyone around here hates me and my posts.
And its not in my best interest for me to stop showing up.
And its not respectful to those who have supported me with my projects.

I have a big mouth...I admit that.
I like to joke and fart around every now and then.
I am opinionated and can be blunt at times.
But just because I don't fit into your image of the ideal "girlfriend"
doesn't mean I am "attacking " you or "hating" you.
It shouldn't mean a constant bickering and war,
and the ruination of every thread (created by me or anyone else).

Many people might not believe this, but I constantly laugh behind the scenes.
Even in the most heated arguments, I still look for ways to post something funny or make a joke...
all in an effort to break the tension and ease the distemper.
I swear, I do it for no other reason, and yet I still get accused of throwing out insults.

I'm to the point where I am afraid of every comment and post I make now.
Although it doesn't stop me...lol
But I honestly expect certain people to constantly bitch and complain about whatever I say
(regardless of my comments importance or strength).

And its not just my comments and threads...
the ridiculous flame wars and stupid complaints that go on around
here is so far out of hand now.
The bad attitudes towards various people are killing this place.
I have a few people that I don't like...but I generally just avoid them.
Rather than follow them around looking for things to bitch about.
To be honest, I would still back up those people, if they were attacked wrongly.

I'm to the point where I wonder if I can keep up the jovial attitude any more.

Please...I'm not expecting or wanting anyone to comment on this.
I just needed to vent.
It'll probably pass.
But in case it doesn't...and the updates on my threads stop...you'll know why in advance.

I also wanted to say, to a few people who I used to be "friends" with
and am not anymore...thats not going to change. I still don't like you.
But if I had the opprotuinty to go back and sort out the problems better
and not have the complete falling out...I would dig deep and do it.

Editorial over...no comments please...lets get back to Autocars and Monkeys!
