1/33 scale A-T6 Texan

Been working on this Harvard/Texan model for some time now.
Some of you may have followed the early work (on my cutandfold forum).
Anyway, since I am going ahead with the Texan project, I thought I might
copy the info over here as well.

[Copied from cutandfold forum]

Not being any sort of expert on the Texan, I am hoping to learn quickly
and maybe hear from those who do have an interest in this bird.

Since I already have a basic template* completed as a result of my redesign of Ken Uhrig's
Harvard kit, I am going to use it as the basis for some Texan models in 1/33 scale.

First...I'm off to find some reference material...although I think I have already decided on the first model.
Wikipedia here I come! lol

By coincidence the first image I see is a nice shot of two aluminum Texans in flight!
I have had this image for sometime in my own files, and I really like the clean look to the aircraft.
Plus I wanted to start off with a mostly bare metal aircraft...so this is it.

Other suggestions for Texans are welcome, but keep in mind I am not going to get into any major variations on the Texan version.

Still working on the basic Texan...
right now, trying to get the basic pattern finished and all the pages for repaints.
Making up some new Instruction pages.

Decided to have a little fun with details like panel rivets.
Hopefully get the Wings done today.

and...a Wing! (sans markings of course).

Looking good Dave! Been looking for a decently-detailed kit of one of these for a while - all that's available is FG otherwise.

Can you do a version with no texturing, just rivets/markings/panel lines so that we can print it on foil paper?

How do you print white?
as in the Stars and Bars?

I will definitely consider this...
the only question would be which aircraft?
...'cause I'm only gonna do this once. lol

Typically, for paper models you want to print on foil, you have an all-white template plus all the markings. You then print two copes - one on the foil, and one on regular printer paper. You then cut out all the markings that don't look vibrant enough (like stars and bars), and apply them like decals.

So...anyone wanna build a Texan?

I need this thing built quick.
I need to test everything, although I really don't anticipate any serious issues
(since I have already built the prototype Harvard kit)
and I need some GOOD photos of the built model.

I built the prototype in about 8-10 hours...so 3, 4...5 days tops?

If anyone is interested in doing a test build let me know.

Seriously, if you can't guaranty that it will be built
and built in the next week without delay
and then supply me with good quality photos,
then please don't offer to do it.

I'm not trying to be rude, but I need it done fast, and if forced
I will have to do it myself and I am tired of getting promises
and never seeing any results.
(No, I am not pointing a finger at you orange...I have been let down
like this many times and it's very frustrating.)

...Anyway, X-151 is ready to go!
and then I will try to do the "blank" version for metallic printing.

Finding good, quick beta builders IS a problem.............. I'd volunteer if I didn't have my hand problem right now.

BTB......... I was mulling over doing a re-draw of this myself........... like minds can be a dangerous thing.

how detailed of a kit are we talking? On line with your Mustangs? I've got about another week free before I'm cleared for normal work after my surgery I had, and I've been building like crazy while I have down time.
