Ryan's idea seems plausible to me. A sheet of paper laying on a surface with a pen upright writing on it.

If it wasn't for the pesky lettering below (or beside)
I would entertain that Pen and Paper idea!!

Maybe that lettering is the name of the co-pilot and navigator along with their crew designation on the flight. Wasn't Tex Sallee the co-pilot and Milton Reynolds the navigator?

First off, the logo is not for this plane. I am creating the P47 with Reynolds Bombshell markings.
Second, Pilot and Crew info is elsewhere...on both planes. Lettering under the logo (or beside the logo on the P47) is: Two lines... Top line appears to be one Short word beginning with "L" + one Short word or spaced letters + one longer word. Bottom Row starts with "6" and appears to be one short group of letters/numbers + one short word + one long word. My guess is its a statement of an event, achievement or record. Rather than a company logo or sponsor.

that was the whole point...I agree.
Thats how the quest got rolling. The graphic is the same one on the A-26, and we have found better pics of the A-26. So, the hope was, to find a better pic of the A26. The lettering below the graphic seems to match in layout and structure to the lettering beside the graphic on the P47. (Obviously no room below it) The closeup photo of the A26 shows the first letter (top row) and number (bottom row) of that lettering. Bouncing ideas is the whole point of this type of research. Without facts, we invent ideas. And since I can't just accept every idea without evidence, then I must challenge and disprove as much as I can (to eliminate it). Eliminate most things, and what ever is left is the answer. No, I do not have all the information I am willing to consider. I am enjoying myself. Sorry you took things the wrong way. I did consider that the lettering could be something like crew names. But I don't think it is...I decided that earlier. The crew on the air racer P47 is not the same as on the A-26. But the logo and lettering appears to be...so its probably not crew names. And crew names are in other locations on both aircraft. And their names don`t start with L or 6. And the logo was removed from the A26 before it even flew. I was just responding to your idea...I apologize if you took it any other way. It wasn't meant any other way. I appreciate the ideas.

It wasn't my intention to be rude.
I appreciate the "theories"...I do exactly the same thing while researching. And I already considered crew names. But it can't be that (I believe) ...for a number of reasons. In the end...it doesn't matter, since I don't want to guess. Even if it is crew names, I still need to see the lettering to recreate it. Understanding the lettering, might lead to a way to search for the graphic. That I totally agree with. Thats why I was trying to figure out the lettering too. But only if the graphic is an actual logo. I have a feeling its not a company logo or sponsor logo, so its going to be hard to search for. I am hoping, with the help of others, to track down a clearer photo of the logo (and lettering) so I can recreate it more accurately. I don't mind fudging a little...its very small on the model. but its prominent enough that I want to be semi-sure. Sorry, if I was blunt with you (Doug)
