I read an article about this which offered a different name for the "modification"
but your info is just as interesting! Thanks I agree, the Spit has always been a quiet favorite of mine. And I have enjoyed putting out a couple of versions. Its not the most perfect paper model (of a Spit) that is available, but its not an overly difficult one to build. And I prefer that over too complicated. haha only tricky spots are those pesky wing fairings! but I say that about every plane model I build! Thank the stars for photoshopping! ...or in this case, CorelPhotoPainting! lol

Wing fairings are the bane of my existence too.
Your model is truly beautiful.

Cockpit is done (for the Spitfire)
Just did a test build today and all looks well. Only a couple of small tweaks needed. Heres some early photos before I made final adjustments. Its always tricky adding a cockpit into a kit that wasn't originally designed for a cockpit tub. This Spitfire wasn't too much of a problem, however the center fuselage connection is a little more fiddly to get together. (I found adding a second internal former behind the rear cockpit area helped me, but I'm sure others will find their own way through the assembly) The cockpit will be added to all future Spitfire models...but, if you have already purchased the "Beer Truck Spitfire", you can get the Cockpit kit for free from my website and at Paper Model Shop Home I'm sure this kit will fit my earlier Spitfire models too. The recent redraw of this model hasn't really altered the basic template of the plane. So there is no reason why it can't be fitted with minimal effort.

Dave, just an observation, but the control stick appears to be considerably out
of scale. Looks like at least twice the size it should be.

its nowhere near twice the size...but it is slightly enlarged.
makes it easier to build. the final PDF is in fact a little smaller than the one in these photos. (as I said, there have been a few tweaks since these pics were taken)

Thanks |
