Every air-minded child of the 70's remembers Miss America! Glad to see a paper model of her coming along, and an AirDave quality model to boot!

Time to put a cockpit in...
heres a couple of shots of the cockpit being assembled (I have shown this before,
so I won't get too carried away with stuff)...first, all the parts of the tub itself:

...and I have added a couple of tips based on some of the builds I have seen.
Not everyone gets it right.
Sometimes the instructions aren't all that clear.

Once the cockpit is completed, it easily slips in from below.
This includes the rear cockpit section (radio, fuel tank)

Then just line up the top edge of the cockpit sides with the cutout in the fuselage.
There is a visible matching section to line it up flush with.
You only need glue the side rails to the fuselage.

And then install the Instrument panel shroud to complete the assembly.
Time to fit some wings!

So, I fitted the wing assembly to Miss America.
No issues, everything lined up.
I keep meaning to make a note about trimming the lower fuselage to fit the wings.
I keep forgetting to do so.
Its not a big deal, but you have to cut the lower fuselage back, just slightly, to the
marked line...which allows the wing spars to fit.

In the end I get the wings on okay and glued into place...

but then!...
I pulled my usual stunt.
Butter fingers.
And dropped the plane.
Ofcourse, the plane lands on one wing end and crunches the wing.
So now, theres a little crease near the fuselage I have to live with.
I tried to smooth it out, but no way.

While I'm fuming over the mishap, I deal with the tail wings.
Cut the spar hole, slide the spar through the fuselage tail end...
test fit the wings, and then glue them into place!

...
Next up, is the lower intake and air scoop...
this part requires a joiner.
I've tried designing one, but every time I build one of these planes, the tabs line up slightly different.
Just enough that I have to scratch make a new joiner.
Thats why I have not included this joiner in the kit.

The scoop will install without tabs...or you can make your own.
I've already assembled the scoop, but first, I place the fairing into the fuselage:

Nice fit on this one!
ready to receive the scoop assembly.

The scoop will butt join or attach over the pre-installed tabs.
This one went on fairly nicely.
It all depends on how well you fit the wings to the fuselage.
Not every one is perfect for me!

One of the last things to do...
install the lower air outlet doors.
These are of course an optional item.
On an Air Racer like this, they would be open for cooling, but only after a high speed run.

oops, i forgot about the wing fairings and the exhausts.

Preformed parts, ready to go on.
The D model fairings are a little easier to install than the B/C fairings.
just seem to fall into place a little better.

And because of time constraints, I opted for the simple exhaust parts.

I have to fit another radio antenna...didn't like the first design, so I am adjusting...
and I started creating a clear plastic canopy, but failed again with the bubble section. lol
One day I will figure it out, but for now Miss America gets the paper treatment.

And I did a little modification on the P51 stand just for this build,
but I think I will add the stand into the model.

and, as you can see, I left off the props, thinking its an "in-flight" look...
so now I better go do a pilot cutout!

Looks great. Can't wait to finish up these other builds and then get started on the Air Racer.

nah...I prefer this one

and since its already done and out for test building,
I think I'll stick with it.

By the way, the info I have says it is NX1202...not 1204.
Except for the '48 bendix race, where the plane was designated N-1204...not NX
