1:32 or 1:48? do you mind reducing?

This question originated in another thread (regarding one of my recent releases).

I produce most of my airplane kits...Texan, Mustangs, Spitfire and Thunderbolts
in 1:33 (1:32) scale.

I like that scale and it affords me the room to add certain details.
Many others have seemed to enjoy that scale as well.
It is a very common scale in Aircraft (Paper) models.

However there are just as many builders who prefer smaller scales (1:48/1:50 and less...)
For reasons of shelf space and/or maintaining a connection with other similarly scaled models.

My question involves the relationship between 1:32(1:33) and 1:48(1:50)
and how you prefer to buy your models.

It is very easy to print your model at a reduced size...around 66-68%
to change the scale size of the kit.
So you can buy any of my 1:33 scale models and rescale them that way.

OR...do you prefer to buy the model already at 1:48 scale?
Would you be interested if I was to offer any or all of my 1:33 kits in the alternative scale?
(This of course would mean I rearrange parts and reduce the number of pages in a kit
so there is no excessive waste of page, like there would be if you just print reduced the scale.)

There is another issue with reducing a model from 1:32(1:33) to 1:48 or smaller:
any small parts become very small parts.
Detailed and complicated assemblies become even more difficult.
I don't think I would personally build any of my kits at the smaller scale, because I avoid small
parts and difficult assemblies...but thats just my preference.)

This is sometimes why it is important to design a model in a particular scale.
And builders might prefer models intended to be a certain scale.
A 1:48 scale design may not have the same number of parts or be quite as detailed as a 1:33 scale model.

Please feel free to give me your opinions or ideas.

I am personally looking at the question of whether I should offer some smaller scale kits.
I'm not going to design smaller scale models or redesign the existing kits,
just adjust my existing model packages by reducing the scale of the parts and rearranging the Parts pages
...and then offering two scale versions of every model (or maybe just specific models).

This way the consumer can buy the model in either scale, as they wish.

All opinions on this matter are appreciated.

I don't want to complicate the topic here...but I have already considered offering one or two Aircraft at a big scale.
Either 1:24 or maybe even bigger.
Two people have already done larger scale builds of two of my Mustangs, and I am planning my own large scale build to test things out.
I need to confirm some assembly issues and decide on a particular kit.

Back to the subject...

ok well as far as poll goes my answer would be;would prefer 1;32 1but would build 1;48 1if it was the only way to get specific aircraft i wanted.

Dear Airdave:
1 1/2 cents worth I like 54mm Military miniature scale I used to do (Paint) military figures scaled out to 1/32 scale so that is a scale that is large enough to do extra detailing in. the other plus is that you can find good figures to go with your masterpiece. Easier to blow the model down than up with my computer set up.
Enjoy,
MILES

My prefer scale is 1/72 sometime I reduce from 1/33 and build but my design is at 1/48 because I want a easy to build model for every modeler.

I really want to check sound from modeler too about what is desire scale they want and how much detail on model. I also thinking that detail model cause some modeler tried to finish a model so I still stick at 1/48 in medium detail :-)

What is your opinion? :-)

Dave I reduced all for 1/100 because I not have space, but one day I moving from a better and big house, and I reboot my collection to 1/48(50)...

my thoughts on this: scaling a larger model down gives better print results than scaling a small model up-to big and pixelation happens...

I like to do 1/33, but I don't have the space. I have been doing 1/48, and I'm fine resizing 1/33 to 1/48.
