Gives you hope if you are able to do the skin on regular glossy photo paper it will take regular rattle can clear coat. You sure you don't want me to send this one to you when it's done Dave? Would look awesome next to the other racers. And as an idea why don't you do a made up one with a deep blue and simple hot rod flames on it. Even easier do plain white or silver with no markings and let the public make their own with sharpies, paint, ect like the fiddlers green P-39 I did

yeah, I haven't thought much about any fantasy paint schemes yet.
(or IPMC themed)

I definitely will not be releasing a "blank" model.
LOL. Do that, and I might never sell any more models.
I want you to buy my paint schemes...not produce your own! haha

But it would be a great idea for a prebuilt model that kids could paint at a modeling event.
Unfortunately, its too much work to build the necessary amount of models needed to take to a show!

...
Speaking of paint schemes...

heres another sneak peek.
(Since somebody asked for a "blue" one)

What?...nobody liked that last one? lol

I love the bright yellow and the older Air Corps insignia.

Anyway...heres another sneak peek update.
I've added a few more planes to the collection.

Two more suggested Texans...Thumper and Midnight Rendezvous

I've also finished the Zebra Stang kit (Hi Time II)
and added a couple more Mustangs...
including Bob Hoover's "Ole Yeller"
and the original Bendix Trophy winning version of Excalibur III (NX1202)

The AIR RACER Collection has 11 planes.
Six Mustangs and five Texans.

I want to add one more Texan to even things out.

As you can see, that wild painted "Suzy Q" Mustang has not been added.
Not yet any way.
If and when I add more Racers, that plane will be a consideration.
I'm sure I could expand this collection with a new set of planes next year?

Right now, I need your help choosing the final Texan model for the current collection.
It obviously has to be an "air racer".
There have been a few suggestions, but I am still unsure.

Heres two pages of Texan race aircraft...at airliners.net

and a Bing image search for Texan Air Racer:
texan air racer - Bing Images

Please, take a look and give me your choice for number 6(#12).

...
I was going to suggest an idea for an IPMC themed plane.
I even thought about using the Suzy Q Mustang as a basis for a paper model themed paint scheme.

The only problem is that this only appeals to plane builders (and fans of the Mustang).
For an IPMC model it should appeal a wider range of paper modelers and
also appeal to less skilled modelers...not just experienced aircraft builders.

This is the reason I have dropped the idea for the time being.

Dave,

I like Grace 8, fifth one from the top in the airliners.net listing.

Probably for different reasons, I agree with Elliott. My rationale is that the set is needing more blue. I also think that it needs another 'solid' paint job. Yeah, I know there are checker boards and stripes, but overall it is a blue plane.

Mole...not interested in Flight Sim skins! lol

I have to agree, that the Marine "Grace 8" is a good looking choice.
And it is definitely blue!

Aww. You could add TWO Texans and then have the Suzy Q to even it out!

And I do agree, there needs to be a blue option in the Texans.
