Another Easy Build Model from airdave

The Easy Build models came out of a need for a free giveaway model at an Army Heritage event.
(My friend Don Boose is involved)

Anyway, the goal was a simple-to-construct one-sheet model.
I even went so far as to make it buildable without the need for glue.
(Although gluing makes for a better model)

And I created two models, a military Humvee and a Land Rover.
Each of those in two different versions.

The Easy Build models are available on my website, and they are freely available for download and sharing.
You can print and share the printed model sheets at any event (as giveaways...not for sale).
[Please do not share the digital file anywhere...only share links to my site]

So...that brings me to now, and I thought it would be fun to add a new Easy Build model to the collection.

Here we go...

start by cutting out the one and only part.
This is a slightly smaller scale model than the Humvee and Land Rover, but it still fills the page.
And then using a blunt tool, score all the lines that have to be creased and folded.
Theres a whole bunch of score lines in the track sections.

...
After cutting and trimming all the edges and tabs, you may choose to use the interlocking tabs...
and that means you have to cut the slots for the opposing tabs.
Easiest with a knife, but you might be able to poke some scissors in there.

...
Now fold all your tabs.
If you are choosing not to use the interlocking tabs, you can cut them off cleanly at the edge of the model.
You can do the same if you plan on gluing your tabs. But if you want to assemble the model quickly and without
using glue, the interlocking tabs work just great to hold everything together securely.

...
Now fold all your pre-scored fold lines.
The shape of the vehicle is obvious now, and its a good idea to familiarize yourself with how it all connects (before
you start connecting tabs or gluing anything!).

...
The Track sections, at each end of the vehicle, are scored to curve the part.
Do you best to preshape these areas to match the sides of the body (before you start connecting tabs).
You can also examine how the smaller opposing tabs line up with the slots in the main tabs.
Just push them through the slots to connect the body sides.

...
When you're done, your Easy Bild model should look like this.
Its an M-113 Armoured Personnel Carrier (Troop Carrier)

And as you can see in these photos, it holds together quite well without the use of glue.
(I will glue the tabs later to guaranty a more long term connection.
I will also edge colour the part for a final display look.)

This model will be available soon, as a free download on my website.

I am still contemplating an alternate version...maybe camo? or a NATO (white) version?

So I can't say how quickly I'll get it published.
You'll just have to watch the website for its release.

That looks very nice Dave, and will go with the Land Rover and Humvee nicely. Might I suggest the Nasa version?

NASA version? interesting.
But, its yellow?! or yellowish...lol odd.
I thought NASA stuff was usually white?

This a simple model...more of a kids thing really.
I didn't follow any technically or historically accurate details.
I might stick to a more recognizable look.
Something that kiddies might relate to.
The NATO white paint scheme or a camouflage look might be better suited?

let me think more about and see if there are any other suggestions.

.............
...the white build is part of the first test build of the CT-114 Tutor.
(I'm on the fourth test now)

This is a terrific addition to the stable of easily-built models, and it obviously has potential for future U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center paper modelling events.

Many thanks for developing these kits and for your generosity in making them available.

I apologize...for those still looking for M113 ideas...

I've already picked and finished a Canuck version of the M113.
I don't think I'll bother with any more.
Two of each EasyBuild model so far is enough.
And the model is not really very complicated or accurate...
I just looked at a few photos and got the basics of an M113.
Its not meant to be anything too historically or technically accurate.

I'll make up a couple of display photos for my website
and the downloads should be up real soon.

Canadian Army M113
I think its a NATO related camouflage paint scheme...actually based on a display M113...
has low visibility male leafs on the sides...but I decided to add a small full colour Canada flag on the rear.

Its available now.

It comes in a "US Army" version and a "Canadian Army" version.

Just like the other Easy-Builds, its a one sheet/one piece model
that will go together without glue (interlcoking tabs).
However, you can also glue it together if you want.

Its free to use as a promo thing, or as a free giveaway.
Just follow the rules of the share, explained on my website.

Get it at Dave's Card Creations...follow the links at www.cutandfold.info

How does one distinguish a male leaf?

Seriously, though, thank you for these!
