When I saw the title of this thread I instantly thought Star Wars landspeeder (any chance ?). But these are great models. I have a range of 'matchbox' type LSR cars that you could collect years ago by saving up tokens from a breakfast cereal. If I was to request an LRS car, Thrust 1 or 2 ?

Question about the Indian Scout. If you enlarged it, how much would it need to be reduced to make it the same 1/64 as the other racers?

No idea.

Measure the part...compare with the actual bike...and figure it out.

I honestly don't know what the actual measurements of the bike are.
I also don't know how tall Burt was. lol
I just made it a reasonable size that I could assemble.

Thanks Dave for the new LSR's. I don't think this was posted but it is an interesting article on LSRs from Air and Space magazine:

Ok. With that, the next question to the general population, does anyone
have a good reference on the length of the real vehicles? I would like to
try and keep them in scale with each other, but cannot find measurements for all of them.

I really enjoy the movie The Indian. Burning his leg like that and all the stuff he had to put up with and yet he do it. What a great movie it was and if anyone haven't seen it I think you should. Thank you Super Dave for another great addition to the Coolest cars collection. What a incredible mind you have there to see these creations with and build. I realty ivy you and all of the models makers we have here or FG. I had to get the FG in there somewhere. Thank you. wc

I found measurements for the Bud Rocket Car and the Bloodhound SSC.
(I think the Bluebird is easy to find too)

What you have to watch for is:
copies and replicas.
They sometimes vary in dimensions and design.

Also, measurements are never clear as to exactly what is being measured.
I always wonder if the measures include extra stick-out bits or just the main components.

With Burt's Munro Special, he is said to have built at least two bikes.
I have seen two different bodies (in vintage photos) that he raced at Bonneville.
A New Zealand shop claims to own those two bikes.
An Indian shop, or dealer, or Museum? has one...but I believe its admitedly a copy.
There may be more copies.
And there is at least one bike built for the movie.

Then theres that shop in California, that claims to have two bikes left behind by Munro
when he left the USA for the last time. (because he didn't want to pay to ship them home?).

lol
who knows how many bikes there were, or how many exist now (including copies).
And where they are, and if they are all the same?
And who knows if any of those copies are accurate to the original dimensions.

I read on one website, one of the Scouts measured somewhere over 13 feet.
Which Scout, I don't know.
And to me, in old photos, the body doesn't look that long...but I could be wrong.

...Bloodhound SSC is claimed to have an "approximate length of 13.4 metres"
Exactly what that covers I don't know.
And the estimation is because the car isn't even built yet.
The only car(s) built so far have been promotional mockups.
And the design has changed a few times over the years.

So I ball parked the scale based on that estimate from the Bloodhound SSC website.

I did the same with the Budweiser Rocket Car.
There is a copy of the car that Hal Needham had built, on display in the Talladega Speedway Museum.
There are a number of differences from the race car.
But the display has a sign with a length specification.
I used that as my "estimate for scale".

What ever happened to the LSR Car that was based off of an F-104? I can't remember the name off hand (Eagle something or other, I think). It was big news for a bit, then disappeared.

There have been a couple that used J79 engines.
Breedlove used one in one of his Spirirt of Americas.
Art Arfon's Green Monster used a J79.

There was a more current project built from an F104 (part) fuselage.
The North American Eagle.
I think that project dried up a few years back.

They had hoped to break the Thrust SSC record.

...
I am wrong.
I guess the project is still alive.
Here it is: http://www.landspeed.com/
