Not sure I have enough connection or interest in the APC.
And as I said, another tank is a BIG "if", since one tank leads to another...leads to another...etc
And with which Tank do I start?

And then, theres the time factor.
A big scale model ties me up for a year...and I put little else into the store.
Which means the hobby income dries up.
Model sales are already at a low.

So, I'm going to have to space the big scale models out, which leaves even less time in life to get them done!
LOL
I am approaching retirement staus you know!
Not that that means much. LOL

And I already have a few other big scale project ideas on my to-do list.
I think I will have to revisit those ideas first.

Nothing major to report this time...
just adding a few small details.

I've actually been tied up with a new Mustang kit this week.
Time to put something into the store, and drum up some business!
I should release that RAF Herc too!?

Anyway...finished up the front (Driver's) Periscopes.

...
And some of the small surface details on either sides of the Engine Bay.
Seriously...small.
Took me about an hour to prepare all these little details...not difficult...just very small parts.

There are six "posts"...bumper stops for the Engine Hatches?
And various small bracketry for Tools, etc
Also installed the small support brackets for the rear most Engine Cover Hinges.

Not sure if I'll add tools or any accessories...not a big concern at this point.

...
Also, finally, fitted the side Escape Hatch covers.
Not sure if one or two card layers is necessary.
I added a second layer, just to see what it looks like.
I think one layer is fine for this part.
Its a fairly flush fitting Hatch.

I do recall you made noises about doing a large scale HMLS Centipede (aka "Mother"). It would be a great partner piece for your No.1 Lincoln Machine (aka "Little Willie"). If you did a "Mother" then a Mark I and possibly a Mark II would be modifications rather than a new design. None of these tanks has been modelled in large scales even in plastic.

The Landships forum denizens would, I think, be prepared to provide as much help as possible.

Regards,

Charlie

Yes Charlie...I did mention that over at Landships a while back.

But, you know what?...I got a little hesitant about it.
Not only are there more and more models of these early Mark Tanks
(possibly making mine redundant)

but I am no expert on these things...and I need patterns, diagrams, drawings, to work from.

And there are some nice plans and patterns for various Tanks being shown over there.

But its been made clear by authors that their plans are NOT to be used in any way.
(I questioned why then are they being posted on the forums?)
So I don't want to be accused of "stealing" anyone's designs.

I apologize for not staying up to date...
but wasn't Thorst (Thorsten) working on something?

LOL When I mentioned my WW1 folder, I was thinking about the CommerCar Horse Ambulance.

The definitive plan set for the Mark I is Helen Lawson's - she has put her plans in the public domain. Mother is very similar to the Mark I in overall design which makes sense given the pressure to produce the Mark I tanks. There aren't very many cardmodels of British WW1 tanks. Modelik made a Mark IV model which has a number of accuracy problems. Wayne McCullough has done a bunch of small scale models of Marks I thru VIII. Shawn Diamond did the Mark I -> Mother exercise in 1/48 (the model is on landships.info).

Helen's plans are at MK1 Tank Plans - Landships WW1 Forum.

Charlie

Well, before anything happens, I will have to learn about "Mother"...

what I know about Little Willie, I learned while researching the model,
but its a very unique vehicle.

The evolution of the Mark Tanks and all their variants is a lot more complicated
and something I know next to nothing about.
And to be honest, I don't want to start a new career learning that history! lol

Lets finish the Saladin first, and then I'll get more involved in the research.

Thank you for considering "Mother". If you decide to go ahead with this project I'm pretty sure I can get the resources of Landships mobilised to help.

Charlie

Was going to tackle fenders, side skirts, etc this weekend
but I think I need to get caught up with Instruction diagrams.

One thing many designers must hate about putting out a model kit
is having to do the Instruction pages...specifically the assembly diagrams.

I have learnt from past experience, not to leave the Instructions until the end.
Its a lot of work for a big kit like this and there are many diagrams to create.
It also gets harder to remember the assembly sequence.

I take photos, and I jot down notes (on the assembly),
but as work progresses...and the design evolves...
I get lax in keeping up with the photos and reports.

So...I decided to open up my already started Assembly Diagrams file
and try to get caught up a bit.
Just getting the basic diagrams out of the way, is a ton of work that I don't have to do later.
