I like the instructions on landscape, I think it's great for viewing and following when printed.

I was either unclear or you missed the point. I usually do not print out the instructions, I view them with PDF reader. Anyhoo, after printing out the parts I will sometimes lose one on a sheet somewhere and will use the PDF reader to find it, that is usually faster than shuffling through printed sheets, especially after I have started cutting things apart.

I prefer the PDF in one package, instructions and parts.

yes...PDF all one package...always!
...that won't be a option.

Only time I offer separate components is with add-ons, accessories, updates and updated instructs (like with my Centurion).

But I am going to try landscape format for some new Instruct pages.
As I said, it wil not affect viewing (or printing) of the PDF.
Even under default settings, the PDF handler and Printer seem to know how to deal with it.

I had the same success in both viewing and printing. I actually like this a lot

I'll be honest...the landscape thing is failing already! LOL

I already had the first two Instruct pages laid out (earlier today).
At least, the diagrams are done and the basic layout is in place.
I haven't done the numbering, or placed all the text yet.

Just working on more diagrams right now.

Anyway, for fun, I created a landscape page
and grabbed those first two Instruct pages
and tried to arrange everything in a suitable manner.

Not only can I not arrange things in a suitable manner (for my liking)
but I can't even fit the same things on the landscape page!

Maybe I've gotten so good at doing the Portrait pages
that I don't know how to lay out a horizontal format? lol

Let me fiddle some more...and then I'll try to post something for your judgement.

UHU02's pictorial instructions for the TIE Interceptor work surprisingly well. He divides the build into steps. The beginning of each step shows a picture of the parts involved with all part numbers clearly labeled. Then a series of pictures show the correct assembly order and placement of those parts. This repeats for each subsequent step. Unlike Polish card models, UHU02's method very clearly shows the intended construction sequence.

If you already break your model instructions into steps that clearly show the intended construction sequence, definitely keep doing that. While not strictly necessary a part call-out before each step would offer some additional convenience for the builder. (I cut out and paint parts in batches so knowing the exact parts needed for a batch saves time and prevents clutter.)

As for layout, I always liked Tamiya model instructions. I prefer line drawings to pictures.

I almost always print model instructions, carry them all over the house, and use them for notes. I personally prefer unadorned fonts like Arial to anything with serifs. Cluttered pictures with dozens of parts become confusing. Polish card model instructions sometimes border on unreadable because they cram so much information into a single picture.

As for the portrait versus landscape thing, I care not.

One thing I would find useful--if the model uses a specific paint color like RLM 66, put that somewhere in the instructions. It will simplify paint selection for part edging.

Hey guys...take a look at these pages below.

Still early concept...I have laid out the first two pages of Instructions (for the Saladin).
The pages are copied and rearranged in Portrait and Landscape view.

The Part Numbers are still to be added, as is additional notes and instructions,
but you get the gist of the page layouts.

Anything you don't like?
Do you have a preference...Portrait or Landscape layout?
Unless there is a serious positive response for the landscape pages,
I will probably leave it as Portrait layout.

Keep in mind, the Cover and Parts Pages will appear in Portrait layout
but as shown before, the PDF can have mixed Portrait and Lanscape formats.

I wasn't able to attach a single PDF with the four pages, it exceeded the allowed file size.
So I posted low res jpegs.

You probably guessed it already, but I really like the look of the landscape

Landscape for some reason appears less cluttered.

I still prefer portrait. I like to have steps progress down the page.
