No, I am not a fan of Flu shots.
I often get injection site reactions.
And... I think its a waste of time since the shot is based on one of last years mutated viruses.
This year, its all new mutations.
So, whats the point in getting vaccinated against last years flu?
Just my thinking.

I just recently (2 weeks ago) got over a bout of the Flu...first one I have had in years.
But it was a bad week.
Been fine since then.
Until 2 days ago, when mid day I suddenly got a lower back ache and heavy pain around my kidneys.
Within an hour, I had aches all over, i was trembling, and weak, and light headed.
I felt nauseous and had a fever.
Then I got a lot of head pressure and a mild headache.
And of course, through all this, my Blood Pressure skyrocketed.
It wasn't until about 12 hours before things finally calmed down,
and I was feeling much better last night.
I still have a lot of pressure in my head, and I am light photosensitive today.
We had some winter weather roll through over the last 3 days,
so I am starting to believe this was all one of my weather related migraines.
or a combination of different things.
Anyway, my blood pressure is coming down again and I don't feel sick any more...

so...

I've gotten the flu vaccine twice and was sick as a dog both times. I need to clarify that it wasn't the flu, though.

However, on the packaging for the vaccine, it lists possible side effects -- fever, achiness, nausea and weakness.

So, I can avoid the flu by getting the flu symptoms ...

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

But until they come up with a vaccine without side effects, I'm not doing it again

I never had a problem with any flu injections. I've been sick enough to have to take a vacation in the hospital(hell of a vacation). I just don't want to take any chances. Getting sick now in my age is not something I can just wait for it to pass. My doctor has given me the long talk about that idea. We are all different in one way or another so I think it's best to listen to my doctor. I'll stick with the plan till it doesn't work any more. wc

Just the opposite for me. On the day after my 65th birthday my GP phoned me up to tell me I was now entitled to get a free Flu jab every year. So I dragged an unwilling wife round with me. We've both had them every year since (We're both 74 now) and I can't remember either of us getting even a cold, let alone flu. Plenty of other ailments of course, but no colds or flu.

Of course I suppose it could be the Rum.
