Probably.

I am really surprised we haven't seen a large number of builds of the Sci Fi series. I hope it is like me and real life getting in the way, but I thought folks would jump all over those

Dangit, Rickstef. I was gonna ask the modeling analog of "Animal, vegetable, mineral" and ask if it rolls, floats, or flies. The way I always played, that first question didn't have to be Yes/No. I got here a little too late, so we'll see what The Game Master's ruling is. I'll wait and see what the response is before going further.

Okay...I'll try to release Number 8 tomorrow...

or soon (LOL)....

I promise.

And then, after that, we'll talk about the next batch,
and this little guessing game.

Will the next model be of a 'fictional' vehicle (ie movie or TV) ?🤔

Goodyear Grabber Olds

So how to pass the time as we anxiously await the impending release of the "More Koolwheelz 2018" series finale (aka "The A-Team Van")? Why not reach back into the Koolwheelz archive for a throwback build? Yes! Excellent idea!

I decided to forego this evening's scheduled work on a long-term project and build out James Garner's Goodyear Grabber Olds. I picked this Koolwheelz for 2 reasons:

1) I did a quick forum search, and I don't think anyone has posted a build of this one yet (which is a shame, 'cause it's a nifty little build).

2) C'mon, it's James Garner. He was a dude. Joined Merchant Marines at 16. Rifleman & Purple Heart recipient in the Korean War. The original Brett Maverick in the '50s. Busted out of a Nazi POW camp with Steve McQueen in the '60s. Jim Rockford in the '70s. Made time for a little Romance in the '80s. Capped it all off by becoming a Space Cowboy. And between it all, found time to drive race cars. Like I said, he was a dude.

No complaints about the model itself. Really enjoyable, hassle-free build that looks great and can be finished a single session. One of the best features of the Koolwheelz series is that many of them can be completed in 1 or 2 sessions. Nice to have a sense of completion, especially when you have other long-term projects going on.

I actually printed 2 copies: 1 copy on 65lb card stock, and 1 copy on 32lb presentation-quality paper stock I like for small-scale models. I used the 32lb for the body pieces & the side view mirrors; this paper comes off the printer with a nice finish and is easy to form & curve. I used the 65lb for the tires & chassis to give these pieces enough strength, and for the roof lamps & headlight covers to give them a bit of depth.

The body pieces fit together really well. For each of the side panels, I started gluing at the hood tab closest to the windshield valley-fold, and then worked both directions. Worked out nicely, and when I was done the body didn't have any twist to it (which often happens when I build these kind of constructions). Pix below.

All in all, an evening well-spent. Tomorrow evening, it's back to hand-drawn pre-computer design airplane of 1,000 pieces. Unless, of course, the A-Team van appears...
